At the STH relocation this spring the rep working with us pretty openly was saying that there were not a lot of seats to work with. I think as the team has become more of a consistent make the playoff teams and is a threat to perform decently in the season that ticket sales are warming up again. I also think offering quarter season (10 games) STH has helped convert some of those lost full season share partners into separate accounts. I know this is my third season in a quarter after being in a share since the team returned. It works out a lot better for me.

In terms of the Jets roster for this upcoming season I think the team is openly taking a gamble on Towes being a short term replacement for Ehlers. It is definitely a big swing of a gamble but the Jets supposedly were not the only team willing to place that bet. The hometown boy who kept living here even when playing for other teams on a deal that significantly lowers the risk to the team while rewarding the player if they delivery could make Chevy look real sharp in a year's time, but the wheels could fall off before we even get through preseason. There is no way to know for sure at this point.

Hellebuyck out 4-6 weeks for minor knee surgery. 6 weeks takes us to Jan 9 - approximately 24 games.

Con - hope we make the playoffs
Pro - if we make the playoffs Helle should be well rested

Ouch. Oh well, I guess better now than in March or April.

If he's ready to return mid-January I wonder if he still goes to the Olympics?

Maybe him being out 4-6 weeks ensures that he peaks in the play offs and not Feb/March.

I think a lot of people are looking at it like that.

I wonder if the team D will tighten up playing in front of Comrie and Milic? Was there indication they didn't play D as urgently as they could have in front of Helle, thinking he would bail them out?

It's going to be an interesting few weeks, but I think the Jets will do okay.

Comrie actually has a better record than Bucky this year. I expect the defence to lock it down, and the forwards will be more responsible. With Samberg feeling comfortable, and Stanley being more effective, I am not over concerned. Tonight will certainly be a big test.

It can't help but feed the speculation machine. "Did they play Helle too much? Will the Jets collapse? Will Sara Orlesky ever go out with me?"

Okay, yeah...no, that last one ain't happening...

I'm sure Arniel will stress greater responsibility for the rest of the team now. Like you said, interesting to see how the team responds tonight.

an selanne still skate?
You were right. Most of the time Toews is a step or two behind the play. Very limited contributions offensively and a liability defensively. 2nd line was terrible when he centered it. Might hit 30-35 points. Really, he should be on the fourth line getting 10 - 12 minutes per game.

At least he is good at faceoffs. That's all I got.

He hasn't been terrible IMO. Giving him and Lowry the season to get in better game shape for playoffs. Being 37 and off for 2 years. How could anyone expect him to be 2010 Toews. Wasn't ever happening.

Trade deadline they should go after a top 6 winger. Jets have a lot of Centre depth. They won't be getting a 2C unless Chevy pulls off another blockbuster trade.

The Jets 2nd line is a major concern. It was last year as well, not having a quality 2C. We made out ok with Namestinkov, and I really like him, but not as a 2C. Loosing Ehlers and not getting a 2C have decimated that line. I was ho-hum about signing Toews, but against him being our 2C.

I am actually a Chevy fan and thinks he does a great job considering the Jets location challenges. For the first time I can say that I believe he hasn't done enough for that second line and it will end up hurting the Jets this season.

This subject seems to be avoided like the plague. What a remarkable fall off the cliff.
Last night being the most pathetic of losses. IMHO...Comrie should NEVER see the net again. Finally he gets strong goal support and he loses focuses and gives the game away. There are players that need to sit...starting with Perfetti and Nyquist. And finally, it is past the time to think about changes behind the bench. This team, inexplicably forgot how to win, and they have absolutely NO confidence anymore. They are defining insanity...The players need a new direction.

Every move that's made from here on out has to be geared towards next year and getting as many draft assets as possible.

How many draft picks will the likes of Nyquist, Pearson, Shen, Koepke and Comrie get you? Even Perfetti is worth pratically nothing these days. The question is, is this the fault of the players or is there a breakdown on the coaching side. And to be clear, the top line is NOT the problem (although Connor's play in the Defensive zone has be pretty sketchy lately). All I know is there has to be a serious shakeup. This can't continue.

It's a tough balance to achieve when gearing up for next year and getting draft picks. Do we trade our valuable assets for a cup run in the next 5 years (which is realistically the time frame we have with our already aging core), or trade our more valuable assets for draft picks, which usually take around 5 years for us to develop?

Well currently there are a bunch of young draft picks playing for the moose, while these others take up space with the Jets. And just when you think a pick like Perfetti is going to blow up and turn into a real star, he becomes a washout. There are no guarantees; but be sure of this, it will only get worse if nothing changes.

In all reality the Jets can draft top 3, find a 2C in the summer, replace the old men with some hungry kids and take a run again next year.
