"BRANDON — Today’s provincial throne speech will announce the construction of an overpass at an intersection near Carberry, the site of a bus crash that killed 17 seniors two years ago, the Brandon Sun has learned."

I am so torn on this. Firstly I am a huge supporter of having grade separated interchanges at all intersections of Hwy 1 and Hwy 75, so this is a win. The way it came about is absurd though. I get that the accident a few years ago was a massive tragedy, but that shouldn't dictate where infrastructure should be built.

This map shows there are much more deserving intersections that should be getting grade separations than this one.

Looking at this diagram, I am a little disappointed myself that they're putting an Interchange at McGillvary instead of St Annes Road. St Annes is a pretty simple design that could be built easily. And since it's near the CP US Line, it would make even more sense.

McGillvary? Yes, it's needed but they're opting for a realignment of both Highways and a Diamond Interchange instead of a Parclo.

This should be done there. It's simple to design, and it actually would help the businesses in Oak Bluff. The realignment would just bypass the services and be further off the Highway instead of right there.
