I think that's due to the compressing effect of the telephoto lens.

The before Christmas date is for traffic on the bridge, not project completion. Still a ways off project completion.

They'll just need to build some connections on either side after the other bridge is partially removed/closed.

There's about one week when there's no traffic on both bridges to setup for the switchover.

It would be great if they could do that between Christmas and New Years when traffic is way down.

If they plan to open the bridge to traffic before Christmas I don't think that's the plan.

Hearing Early-Mid January. It sounds like there will be periodic lane/bridge closures to facilitate construction on the new bridge through the spring.

I get why it's being rushed. This project is heavily delayed and the optics of further delays looks really bad. Also, there was deferred repairs on the old span and there's a rush to reduce the structural load on it (it's still safe to drive over it for the next while though).

I still maintain my position that the NB offramp to Columbia looks tight.

How long will it be before we see flashing advisory signs on the ramp saying 30 km/h, and news articles with the province pleading with drivers to slow down because people keep bashing their cars into the concrete barrier as they take the corner too fast.

It doesn't look that bad. I mean if you can't manage to handle that turn you shouldn't be driving.

The ramp does become a steet, not another highway, so cars need to slow anyways.
Can't be as bad as northbound Oak St. Bridge to eastbound Marine Drive.

Exactly. One of the purposes of a tight turn on an off ramp is to force traffic to slow to the speed of the street that they're going to merge onto.
