Truman hotel looks great as well. Is it supposed to replicate something that was there in the past? Only criticism is that it turns its back to the river with that high brick wall. If I'm not mistaken it is set to replace a gravel parking lot. Don't mind the front but agree the backside is pretty abysmal. It's tricky though because there is a sizeable homeless / drug addict population in that area due to the Drop in Centre. The Riverwalk is inviting and used by everyday Calgarians though, so I have no idea why they would wall it off like this unless they expect apocalyptic hordes of hobos to descend upon their patio. I mean there's a popular children's playground next door as well. As a guest I would be annoyed having to walk out the front and have to detour to get to the pathway system.

Is this replacing the Sales Centre? Materials will play a large part in whether this looks decent or terrible.

Maybe we'll see the Hub proposal revert to its original, supertall version. This iteration, which has been floating around for years now, is just a skosh stumpy, though not quite enough to call it the Nub.

The current iteration of the Hub is a supertall by CTBUH definitions. The spire is an architectural feature and is 304m. It's definitely a "cheater" supertall, but no worse than the Burj Khalifa or the Petronas towers.

Bah, we don't need no stinkin' spires! Do you happen to have a pic of the original? The proportions were preferable, to me at least. Once it was cut down, which was years and years ago now, I lost interest in this development.

Sharing a site I created with a bunch of maps, but a main focus being a Victoria Development Tracker .

Different than some others out there because within the map you'll find links to key information, links to all relevant infor and docs plus full size images and renderings, local news stories and TV stories via YouTube and my own pics and construction update videos. Simple and user friendly with a lot of projects, lol. I had to limit myself in terms of scope to primarily Victoria and not the other 12 municipalities in the region but most people are primarily interested in what's going on near downtown.

It will indeed replace the sales centre, and totally agree about the materials. Going by the render it can go either way. The three colors are a decent enough combination. The black looks to be metallic paneling but that white color in the middle could go either way. If they use a metal material like Alucobond it'll be fine. If they go with cheap crap, then, not so much.

This is another proposal of sorts, and it's been around for at bit, but I don't believe has been mentioned on SSP. It now looks to be going ahead, and sounds like construction may have even started, though not confirmed.

The University of Calgary is turning the bottom 14 floors of an office tower into their Architecture school campus. It'll house 800 students, plus staff.

Also wanted to post this. It's a link to a development map for Calgary. Kind of similar to what Zoomer posted for Victoria.

You can filter on developments that are under construction, or proposed, etc..

Wow, that Calgary map is fantastic! I wonder how many people or hours it takes to maintain that and the platform used, etc, etc. If you know of a faq let me know. I'll add this to the resources tab on mappingvictoria.com as I'm putting together a collection of non-official city trackers (which tend to suck). I believe I saw a Montreal one that is based on the same model.

Edit - just checked it in more detail, the database shows only projects completed in 2025 for Calgary and is out of date for Edmonton, so I wonder how up to date it is. Which I think is the inevitable challenge of these things, there is so much out there to keep track of and on top of.

it's associated with UrbanToronto - same owner and platform. They tried to take UrbanToronto global on the skyrisecities platform about a decade ago without success, shutting it down about 5 years ago but leaving the forum component live.

it looks like recently they have started updating the database component for Calgary again. Calgary is the busiest subforum other than Toronto, so it makes sense. Ottawa has a busy subforum there as well and I could see the database returning there as well.
