I noticed that in the Outlet Mall Chachi's is out and Subway is moving in, in the food court.

Chachi’s sandwiches are tasty but kinda on the premium side price wise for the quantity you get.

I miss Earl of Sandwich that place was suuuuper tasty.

Footlocker is being renovated to their new concept, Rumor has it Apple is moving into the old GAP space and that Nike is moving into the old Apple space but I dont see that being big enough for a Nike store even if they dont go with their flagship model.

Not confirmed but normally malls are paid based on sales per sq ft of leased space. It could be that Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters were significantly underperforming on that front. It is also a bit of an open secret that CF has AI monitored cameras through out their properties. It is possible they did a study on customer flow and saw that they customers those stores were bringing in were ONLY going to those stores. CF is not above pushing tenants out and it has happened a lot over the years and not just to these two retailers.

Portage Place is actually getting a new tenant. Looks like a LABELS is moving in to the second floor above the canada services office. Most recently housed what was another LABELS type store whose name escapes me.

If that's the case, I really don't understand the rationale. What does CF care if it's getting paid? Bad faith dealing if true.

I was told years ago that the food courts tenants at Trizec Portage and Main had to send a copy of their daily cash register close out tapes to the management office so the sales part of the rent could be computed.

I hope the rumours are true about the Apple Store. They need a slightly larger space and a refreshed store. I don’t think it has been renovated since it opened over 15 years ago.

I thought of the idea that they should turn the old Hudson's Bay store in Polo Park into an ice skating rink. They would open up the center ~3/4 of the building, put the rink at the bottom, and then there would be smaller stores surrounding the rink on both floors. The old entrances to the store from the mall would be opened up so you'd be on the mall and could see into the rink.

Most of the Chachi's in Vancouver seemed to have been closing down in recent months. I've never tried them as they are way too pricey.

Winnipeg is getting a Home Hardware opening up in the old Peavy Mart location in the 2800 block of Pembina Highway.

They have having a job fair on Oct 22 and 23 so I am guessing they will be open before the end of the year.

I always thought that Home Hardware never went into large cities as not to compete with the big box stores.

^ interesting. Home Hardware gets some interesting stuff that you don't find at other hardware stores.

^ Small town Home Hardwares are great. They're probably the only stores in Manitoba where you can buy power tools, fishing gear, deer sausage and booze all under the same roof.

I thought that too but noticed in Toronto there’s a Home Hardware in most neighbourhoods in the downtown area and GTA.

Yeah, that's the idea. Except, being a former spot for a department store, the rink would be at the end of the mall instead of right in the middle of it.
