Sadly I agree. We have the population for Simon's as Halifax with barely half of ours can sustain one... we have bragging rights for tons of dollar stores, thriving thrift shops, Ever expanding and busy Costcos, Walmart's..Giant Tiger, Canadian Tire stores etc... lower to barely midscale for large format stores...but crime, theft here is well known all over the retail investment world.

Any news when London Drugs is opening in Polo Park. I went by the site today and they have boarding up saying 'Fall 2025'

CF has the current leasing map up for Polo Park and London Drugs and takes most of the former Zellers space (close to 30k sq feet) , leaving 2 space to midsize units. In comparison the St Vital London Drugs is just over 32k sq. feet)

What a bloody waste having london drugs displace two of the most unique stores in the mall. Lame.

Kildonan Place is getting another standalone building in the corner parking area in front of the CAA and Sketchers units.

EKT Community Committee at its next meeting has a document for approval to build a new Bank of Montreal in that location.

BMO will be moving from their existing location of many years in the Kildonan Market Mall at Regent and Stapton.

Could be Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. I believe the mall ended their leases and weren't able to renew them.

Right, I believe they weren't offered new leases or to move, and as a result decided that they didn't feel like relocating anywhere else. Maybe a soured relationship that will keep a cool retailer out of Winnipeg for the foreseeable future.

I believe both stores wanted to stay but Polo Park forced them out. I recall it being a messy falling out.

The store manager for UO said on reddit that Polo Park didn’t even offer the opportunity to move. I recall the mall manager also making a comment in an article around that time that they were not welcome back but did not state a reason.

I wonder what the rationale for pretty busy stores being treated that way was

Two places I noticed today on my Sunday outings.

1) the former 7/11 at William and Isabel has a sign on it that it opening as some sort of collaborative office space if I read the sign properly as I was driving by.

2) the former Kelseys next to Montana's at Polo Park had a contractor doing work on the outside. Looked like doing paint work so I don't know if it is just asset maintenance by Shindico or they are getting ready for a new tenant.

The former 7-11 at Ellice and Maryland is under obvious renovation and looks poised to open something soon.

I think that will be some kind of medical clinic

Side note: the former 7-11 on Jefferson and Sheppard has a SOLD sign up.

Also the former 7/11 at 630 Watt St. still shows up for sale but over the last few weeks has had some roofing work done and the rooftop air conditioning units have been replaced.

The WPD love that empty 7/11 parking lot as they can use it for the Polson school 30 KPH zone enforcement for Watt St. Last week it was their unmarked traffic division pickup truck pulling drivers over.

Interesting! Do we know who bought it? I heard rumours Seven Oaks school division was looking at it.

Good, that lot is not fun to get in and out of at lunch time.
