Holy Halloween! Cambie St...That temperature don't match that image.
And the forecast in the BC interior for later this afternoon is predicting temperature breaking for this date of Sep 17.
I foresee our warm front to cross the entire country in the coming week.

Leaves are a lot further advanced in BC than around here in NB, is that drought and heat stress, or is it normal?

Our trees are stressed here too because of drought, and, certain varieties such as white birch are dropping a lot of leaves, but, in general, unless the trees have been stressed from some other causes as well, they are just barely beginning to turn.

Currently being in a global warming episode, I think we are witnessing the genesis of a future Canadian desert, Canahara Desert,
starting on the westcoast and sweeping eastward. Yes, I'm an alarmist

Yes, some trees are fully crisped and have been for a few weeks. It's drought and heat stress, but it's also pretty common considering this is what most of our summers are like. The odd thing that you see sometimes is a tree loses its leaves in the summer and when we get some precipitation again in September/late August, they leaf out again (currently happening with a Dogwood on my balcony - I thought I had lost it!)

Summer isn't over quite yet, it's 22°C, mostly sunny with a nice breeze in Vancouver today, but there is a humidex as high as 27°. Someone said there is smoke, but I didn't detect any, maybe a little haze.

Lovely evening in Ottawa. Leaves are ahead of home, but the summer temps still linger here.

Leaves seem to me to be about a week early in Ottawa. I'm assuming that's due to the drought.

55 days of 30.0C or over.
The last 5 were surprises.

Great Ottawa pics, SHH!

Very nice day in Vancouver. Sunny and warm with a bit of wind in the late afternoon.

I've been testing my new camera's video capabilities, so I thought I would share a random video from today.

25C with a humidex of 27 and a mix of sun and clouds. There was some cloud cover but still sunny close to all day long. There were just moments when the sun had to peak through the cirrus clouds.
Way too busy to enjoy it. But the evening was nice and mild. Patios full as usual.

Low of 13C this morning.

The warmspot was Kamloops, BC at 34.6C. Absolutely bananas. The longer this goes, the more this event is approaching March 2012 and June 2021.

Warmest low West Vancouver, BC at 18.5C.

18C in Moncton at 10 AM, going up to 26C this afternoon. Summer lingers.

Despite this, I am picking up my Wildcats season tickets at the Avenir Centre this afternoon. Doesn't feel like hockey weather, but the Cats first game of the season is this evening in St. John's, NL, facing the Newfoundland Regiment. This will be the first game of the season for this newly relocated team (formerly in Bathurst, NB).

The Wildcats (currently the QMJHL champs) lost a lot of players at the end of the last year, but retained a talented core, and have recruited nine Americans to the team (thanks to the new NCAA rules), all highly ranked. It should be another good season. The Cats are still ranked #3 in the Q and #8 in the CHL, and will be making another Memorial Cup run.

GO CATS GO!!!!!

Gabrielle is going to be another fish storm. The hurricane season remains quiet.

A fitting day for the last ball game of the year. Just peeled my uniform off, 31 degrees at gametime in Chatham. At home, my weather station hit a high of 28.6 with a humidex of 35.

27C with a humidex of 30 and sunny. Finally a bit more humid. You immediately feel the warmth. Nice warm breeze as well.

Patios are full well into the evening with a temp that remained above 20C even right now.

Low of 14C this morning.

The warmspot was Warfield, BC at 31.8C.

Warmest low was Western Island, ON at 18.5C.

14C and overcast in Moncton at 8 AM, only getting up to 17C today.

We actually had a rainshower in the city about an hour ago, and, more showers are expected later in the day.
