The steel is up and the framing has begun. Lots moving at this site. I just wish they went with a couple more floors for density.

Corner of Brackley Pt Rd and Aviation Ave

Something is brewing across from the Queen's County Highways Depot. Lots of earth moving equipment and dump trucks moving in and out at this corner.
Since it's not in city limits, permits would be through Brackley and the province.
Anyone hear anything?

The PID is 134114, and this PID is the same along Aviation Ave, which is land owned by BioVectra.
Might be an expansion!

Saw this one a few days ago on the IAAC map:

“Kreative Rentals Corp.'s proposed development at the corner of Brackley Point Rd. and Aviation Ave. involves the construction of a 16,000 ft2 commercial building and associated parking lot, designed to accommodate multiple tenant rental spaces.”

twin apartment buildings.

Arsenault Apartments - Sherwood Rd

This apartment is moving along. The roof is on and it will soon be closed in for completion during the winter or spring.

One of my friends works for Burger King as a manager and according to him, he’s being trained to layer on manage at a new location in Stratford. He said it’s probably going to be at the former Nimrods/KFC.

My girlfriend works for John Brown Grille who also owns Phinleys in Stratford which closed recently. Apparently Dairy Queen bought the property and is planning on putting a location there.

A town of 13,000, it should. Other towns much smaller than Stratford, ie. Kentville, Woodstock, even have Atlantic Superstores and Walmart. With the establishment of a Starbucks, other fast food joints are seeing the potential.

Yeah they could use a Kent, Superstore, Walmart, Canadian Tire and several other chains.

Charlottetown residents upset as city rejects appeal on 49-unit waterfront project

How can these NIMBYS, who are mostly renters, out of province, or do not live close to this area, sign petitions, launch IRAC appeals, etc. and hold up housing. Albeit hi-end housing, but they need somewhere to live too. If they don't live in town, they'll take their money elsewhere like Stratford or Cornwall.
Maybe we should launch a petition to support this project, a project that is six years old.
I for one am glad it passed, the appeal will inevitably fail, and a permit will be granted!
Let's do this!

New school for East Royalty

A new school for East Royalty is being fast tracked through the approval process. L.M. Montgomery is way past full and the area with new subdivisions booming in the area, a new additional school is needed. The projected population of East Royalty by 2035 is projected to be over 17,000. I'm sure that may be obtainable sooner than later.

The construction has begun. The school will be a copy of the just opened Sherwood Elementary.

New $180-million waste processing plant set to open in Charlottetown in 2028

"A new waste processing plant that will take in more trash, and use less energy to operate, will be built in P.E.I.’s capital city. Enwave says the new facility is set to be functional in 2028."

To add, this will be one of the tallest buildings in the city. Imagine a waste centre at about nine stories, and we can't get housing that high! Where are the NIMBYS now?!

A parking lot was paved, there is also underground parking, and I noticed the work on the building has slowed a bit! Hummm! I hope a NIMBY didn't start an IRAC appeal!
I wish they would have gone to at least 6 floors on this one.

Don't give up hope!

In Moncton we have just started construction of the Gateway development, two 17 storey buildings on a common podium right on the riverfront trail. This was quickly opposed by a group of academics, social justice activists and environmentalists, but, the city did an effective end run around them, and the NIMBYs had very little public support. The development is going ahead as planned.

So I’m all for this development going forward.. but I do see her and others views. My ex’s sister lives in the building, her view of the water is now going to be very obstructed because of this building. As will most who have apartments facing that side. To be honest, I have met this woman, she doesn’t fully fit NIMBY status.. in this project yes because it’s technically going in their backyard. The development should go forward, but I can see why someone who is losing part of their view would be annoyed.
