I love the way it slopes and tapers in deference to the Old City Hall and the plaza. The plaza has some cool public art now that has really elevated it. The East facade isn't horrible to me. It's more than I expect for the back side of a building like this. I might be a little biased on this one, to be fair. I remember visiting it when it first opened and being absolutely blown away.

TBH, I've always disliked the outside of the Calgary city hall. It's too much of the same for me, and I'm not a fan of purely reflective glass.
I agree however on the interior. The brutalist beams and posts with the large atrium. It's pretty cool.

For all the hate KW gets, that is a beautiful photo and while I'm not sure about the podium and street interaction the building quality is nice and the three towers looked balanced.

Montreal's height limit makes the skyline look like it's trying to hide in shame. Stand out and be proud, get rid of that height limit!

Coming in late for the Calgary City Hall discussion. The building itself is alright; though it's very forgettable and generic from many angles. A quick fix that would help immensely would be to green roof it.

I agree, a green roof would really go a long way. The Provincial Couthouse in Ottawa, with a similar stepped design, got a green roof in 2012.

This is the east facade at street level, just an empty concrete space that does nothing to engage the city around it. The building basically turned its back on the east village, this is brutal and should never be replicated anywhere ever. https://maps.app.goo.gl/cDC9qTP3W6MFVYvf9

The public art on the west side is basically some horse statues (How Calgary can you get) and the firefighters memorial. There isn't even a space in the building that opens onto this plaza, it's complete isolated and empty. There will be a permanent memorial to indigenous children and residential school survivors at some point, so some sort of activation at least.
