Yep, anything above 35 in September is notable, and above 38 is very notable.

PS, love the rattle snake on the golf course! It probably thought the golf ball was an egg.

Went up to 24C with a humidex of 26. Some sun but 70% of the time was cloudy.

Low of 15C this morning.

The warmspot was Ashcroft, BC at 38.2C

Warmest low was Lytton, BC at 23.5C. Impressive stuff in regards to lows as well.

19C and sunny in Moncton at 10 AM, going up to 24C this afternoon.

Waterfall near Sussex NB (found on Facebook). I'm surprised to see it still running given how dry it has been. Perhaps it is spring fed.

Saw this in my newsfeed today - I thought this was previously released but perhaps not?

Plant Hardiness Zones Map Update

Quote:
Gardeners will have an updated roadmap to help them plan next year as Natural Resources Canada has released an update to its plant hardiness zones map. The last map came out in 2014 and, since then, researchers say about 80 per cent of land in Canada has shown an increase in zones, typically between a half and a full zone. The new map, which came out in July, is based on data from 1991 to 2020.
Highlights include:

-GTA Average moving from 6A to 7A, perhaps due in part to the heat island effect

-Windsor moved from 7A to 7B, the first time that's been seen in Ontario

-Vancouver and Victoria have moved up to 9A (the scale goes to 9B)

-Calgary jumped from a 3A to 4A, Winnipeg jumped from 2B to a 3B

^ I dont necessarily understand how that works when most of the country seems to get at least one "polar vortex" event every winter, which we are told is relatively new phenomenon tied to climate change. I'd agree on the whole winter is getting warmer here, but these hardiness zones are usually tied to extreme minimum temperature which, in polar vortex events, seems to more extreme.

Anyway. Chilly day today. Feels like a nice fall day. The long weekend is warming up to more typical temperatures.

Another unpleasantly humid day in Vancouver with haze. Not looking forward to the temps peaking around next Wednesday around 28 (before Humidex).

Feels like summer has finally arrived in Calgary. 5 days in a row of blue skies, and hot weather. Better late then never I guess.

Saw the same article and came to report this as well.
I wonder if we moved up a half step to 8a.
Nice to see Vancouver and Victoria at the very top.

Was a pleasant day, hit 29c and overcast. Lots of thunderstorms were brewing today with quite a bit of lightning strikes sparking new fires

Have a look at the map below, hard to count them all as theres a few layered over each other, but there is 22 new out of control spot fires (.01 hectare each) around Whistler. I'm sure they'll get a handle on them all relatively soon, but shows how dry the coastal region has been.

Yeah I saw it Global BC 6 o'clock news this evening, storm chasers in Calgary where having a field (many) day this summer Calgary has been in the path of more intense storms than usual this year, making it a standout season for dramatic weather

20C with a humidex of 22 and mainly sunny. NWS Vermont saw it coming, EC clueless with a undervalued forecasted high.
Despite that, very cool weather to finish August.

Low was 15C this morning. Started off cloudy before it cleared up.

The warmspot was Osoyoos, BC at 34.7C

Warmest low were Kelowna and Summerland, BC at 19.9C

18C and partly cloudy in Moncton at 10 AM, going up to 21C this afternoon with a risk of thundershowers.

Any rain would be welcome. It is still bone dry here. There have been about four fires in the city in the last 24 hours, all related to encampments. Two of these have been in my general neighbourhood. These have been quickly knocked down by the Moncton Fire Department, but, still. My neghbourhood is so heavily wooded that if one of these fires got out of control, hundreds of houses could be at risk.

I think all of these illegal encampments should be shut down immediately. The risk is just too high.

It's been humid & hazey in Vancouver lately (and smokey?). Been feeling very sluggish the past few days.

Makes for some great sunsets though:

From what I have heard it’s not smoke, it’s ozone.

And if you are calling those clear skies hazy, never spend a summer here in East Asia!

If it isn’t smog, it’s sand from the Gobi, or smoke from Siberia, or just thick thick humid haze.
