I think there are nice areas through out Canada, I just feel we have a much more unique geography then the vast majority of Canada and better weather ( don't have to deal with humidity ) and we don't get nearly as cold as most of the country either.

We have less metropolitan areas where we live here, but we also don't have to deal with the traffic that Torontonians deal with. I m not sure what temperature the great lakes get to for swimming, but they are quiet nice looking ( like inland seas. )

Some of the clearest lakes I've ever seen are in Quebec. This is coming from a guy from Manitoba. My hometown lake looks like a pool of pea soup.

^ well to be fair, I believe you are from southwest MB - where lakes are at best over sized and over fertilized sloughs.

Plenty of clear lakes in MB within the Shield areas further east and north. Although more accessible clear lakes are probably in NWO.

You are right, drew.

They are putting the bublers into them lakes, but that — won't help, I am afraid.

There are nice lakes and swimming spots in every province. The difference is your preferences for the surrounding topography and climate.

For me I love the semi-arid rolling topography of the Okanagan with the dry hot weather. For me, that is paradise, but its okay that other people have other preferences. And, at the same time, I'm not overly snobby about my own preferences as to not also enjoy lakes elsewhere with completely different topographies and climates.

Anyways, as for current weather, today is a fascinating day in BC.

Usually when there is a contrast in conditions in BC it is cooler north, warmer as you go south, but today that has been flipped on its head. Now, this does happen a couple times every year, but not to this extreme.

In Kamloops, Ashcroft, the Fraser Canyon, we are again between 38 to 40.

But, once you dip just a little south into the Okanagan, it is 32 in Vernon, 29 in Kelowna, and only 26 in Osoyoos, and even cooler in Washington. Tomorrow is looking to be forecasted as a similar pattern again.

I haven't watered my front lawn for 3 weeks but the grass has really greened up. Got like three or four rainfalls during that time and the heat wasn't oppressive like previously. I stopped because my street is under construction and it would be a waste of time with all the debris everywhere.

Anyway, yesterday started out beautifully in Jack Darling Park in Mississauga. Then it all went downhill. Got grey, windy and then rain hit. After making my final stop in Newmarket, I spent the next four hours exploring the east coast of Lake Simcoe and all those communities, including Lagoon City. Lake Simcoe is too often windy when you're on the east side. I don't think waterside living is nearly worth the premium you pay.

It was so hot and dry before that the fire danger went beyond fire ban. The needle exploded.

I noticed that Georgina and Brock had signs saying the same thing about Lake Simcoe potentially having bacteria for 48 hours after a rainfall. Just two different looking signs. Anyway, another reason lakeside living on Simcoe just isn't worth the premium.

21C and mainly sunny. The trend of having unusual cool stretches sandwiched between the warmth continues.

Low of 12C this morning.

The warmspot was Lytton, BC at 40.1C. This is turning into quite a heat wave. 4th consecutive 40 degree high, first time it has happened since 2022.

Warmest low was Warfield, BC at 20.8C

Four consecutive days at 40+ is impressive in July, but during the last week of August is astounding.

That’s the best and most logical explanation I’ve heard.

It appears the early September heat wave that's coming is even stronger.

Fire danger ratings have gone from very low to very high in this part of the country in just a couple weeks. Hope people use their heads and don't burn down our forests, been nice to have very little smoke this summer!

29c and overcast today with a chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon and tomorrow. Hopefully we get some showers with these storms prior to the heatwave coming next week.

Here’s quite the obstical some guys had to play past and leave their ball as this Rattlesnake on the course wouldn’t leave it alone. Happened down in Osoyoos.

This could end up being something interesting. Of course time will tell, but if the forecasts I’m seeing hold, it could be record September territory.
