Ottawa's Byward Market

IMO, 2 things;

1) The current "market" building in Ottawa sucks.. It's packed, confusing, hard to get around, etc.. It's not inviting at all and so everyone walks beside it (very few people go inside).

2) Demographics of nearby residents. In places like Montreal, there's a lot of older, establishes neighborhoods near the market and you see more retirees or young families where a weekend stroll to buy fruits & veggies is more appealing to. In comparison, the Byward Market is much more "touristy" and the vast majority of residential nearby are newly build condos or apartments, so it's mostly university students or young professionals (who are less likely to stroll to buy fruits & veggies on weekends).
