The concept was off peak parking in the right lane. Sidewalk seems narrower than concept. That does not look like 20 feet.

"Potential future bike path" I call bullshit on that. Where? They'll cut down all the trees for it? Maybe the yards will get a pathway.

This is already such an improvement. Long overdue, but happy to see it finally happen.

Work is starting on the remaining several 3 story apartments in Westerra. Nothing started in the Costco lot. Not going to be paving out at the long term care site any time soon. Still many weeks of doing curbs and pouring sidewalks.

Looks like the long-term care facility is gonna take up a lot of land. It’s gonna be great to see.

Interesting that they have gone with the inset balconies. There are plusses an minuses to that. Most of the parking will need to be underground. Hopefully the dark area on the main floor will include a small commercial space.

I don't have any experience with architecture, design etc. Just curious what the pluses and minuses are? Do they differ in our climate vs other places?

Much better, but should be significantly more dense and have some main floor retail. Normally I would say they can do whatever they want with their land, but I believe they got a sweetheart deal on this land, and all their funding is public. They should be required to develop in the public interest.

Agreed. This is a prime block in the heart of Regina, and we can't squander it like we have pretty much every piece of important real estate in the last few decades (in terms of letting builders do what they want). Legally, there should be a set minimum housing per square meter for downtown (to enforce density and height).

Regina studies potential of a mid-scale canola meal plant
Aug 15, 2025 | 3:23 PM

In 2024, Canada exported 3.5 million metric tonnes of canola meal valued at $2.7 billion, according to the Canola Council of Canada. The United States is the largest single market for Canadian canola meal, with smaller volumes going to China, Japan, and other countries.

Economic Development Regina (EDR) believes there is potential for a mid-scale canola meal processing plant in Regina, Sask.

EDR CEO Chris Lane said this is based on economic modelling that’s been done recently into potential input and output, revenue, and job creation, among other things.

He said global demand for canola meal is rising – and the Greater Regina Area (GRA) is ready to meet it.

I heard the plant would be about 500 hundred million , Regina is fast becoming the food agricultural capital of Canada

Dodged most of the rain this evening, waited out a short shower on Park Street before pulling out the drone. https://www.flickr.com/photos/reginaconstruction/

As I was passing the Regent Park mall I noticed the other half of the old Dollarama building had been demolished. Ladies California Fitness was the last tenant there and they shut down in 2018.

Steel going up for PTI expansion with rail for overhead gantry cranes.

The second water reservoir is getting its black exterior waterproofing but I didn't take an pictures there.

There was a huge gas flare south of the city, from Aurora it looked like something was on fire in the Greens, but the fire was outside the city didn't show up well in photos.

They started extending Arens rest of the way to Woodland Grove. Excavated subgrade and laid out the curb weeping tile. It looks like Arens could be getting extended to the east as well to connect to Eastbrook east of the storm channel.

I got as close as I could get to the 3 story apartments in Westerra. I was curious what would happen as I flew toward the restricted zone. It shows up on the onscreen map and the drone just stops before reaching it and won't move any closer.

The new park that’s under construction featured in the photo above. Are there any renderings of it?

Turns out I had one on my imgur account. I think Favel Drive is getting connected to Arens this year. There appears to be work to extend Arens a bit eastward to link up with it. New road construction timeline in that area is a black box. Its all done by the developer so no clues dropped on tender sites.

Also a more recent sketch of it.
