Traine Construction Ltd. is the contractor and was behind the 3 building 'the View' on West Victoria which is the same size. (166 Units)

People living in Sun Rivers are being told improvements are coming to the intersection of Highway 5 and Shuswap Road — upgrades aimed at reducing rush-hour congestion in the area.

According to Sun Rivers Development Corporation, engineers are finalizing detailed designs in collaboration with Tk’emlups te Secwepemc and the Ministry of Transportation and Transit.

“The improvements include widening the intersection approach to include two left turn lanes from East Shuswap Road onto Highway 5 North,” reads an SRDC development update dated July 25, signed by managing partners Werner Gruenwald and George Tetreau.

The work will be carried out in conjunction with construction of a multi-use path by the band.

“Once completed, we expect these upgrades to significantly alleviate non-event traffic backups,” the document reads.

According to SRDC, construction on the project is expected to begin soon.

Amazing how fast things can get built for first nations. Wish the same would happen for those who pay the taxes that fund all these things.

We all pay taxes, I don’t know where you get this information from, if there are grants that pay for housing why wouldn’t they use it? If the Tkemlups nation hadn’t applied for it then another place would’ve have got the funding anyways

Well not saying his side is completely right but, if you have status and work on the reserve, live on the reserve, and buy everything at stores on the reserve then you will never pay taxes to the federal or provincial government.

I think its quite smart actually for Tkemlups to develop more housing, business complexes etc, so that band members can shop solely on the reserve.

What you said is correct but the majority shop, work off reserve and pay taxes. It sounded like he was implying that we ALL get special treatment when it’s not true in majority cases

So frustrating that what we pay in taxes gets a bandaid fix. Why are overpasses never built!? I get they're expensive but it would fix the problem completely and actually improve circulation instead of mildly helping it. Then there should be another overpass at Mount Paul Way and another at Halston, and the congestion would be fixed. These drawn out "upgrades" are pathetic considering how much commerce is transported through the city. Nothing gets built anymore in this province.

I was thinking this was going on the old horse track property, but if its on the east side of Mount Paul way and backing on to the golf course then it actually wouldn't be that terrible.

LCDES building is well underway. Campus is a mess at the moment as they install pipes across campus.

Not sure if the LCDES building is still under construction, or complete. They broke ground on it last year. This is where the data centres will be tied into. I like how they made the energy plant a focal point and on display in the middle of campus. Stantec report released earlier this year shows a solar panel covered walkway that will also tie into the plant.

Planting 4000 acres of trees would be a lot less expensive than building, operating, and maintaining that system.

*Kamloops council has approved a rezoning application and development permit for two Brocklehurst properties, making way for a 20-unit rental building to rise.

The properties are located at 1774 and 1782 Parkcrest Ave.

100% agree. Like what is the government waiting for? When is the right time, if not now especially with all the added traffic from the loss of the red bridge. It is truly frustrating at how much time and money this province spends on bandaids when they could do it right the first time and save millions and years.
