Yesterday we got nearly an inch of rain, everything is looking a lot better now.

Very cool today, feels like up north. There's even a bit of smoke. Currently 23 and sunny, moderate humidity. We had a low of 11.9, very low for this time of year. As Nicko says, cool air has been on our doorstep all year.

Yesterday 36.9C before the black clouds came. Downpours, thunder and lightning, and even a spot fire started due to lightning.
Next week looks looker and wetter than a normal summer here.

28 days at 30.0C or higher. And many days at 29C.

23C and sunny. Acceptable day but glad we will be back to more normal temperatures.

Low of 14C this morning. You could feel the dryness. Dewpoint was down to 5C at some point this afternoon. That is very low (so very dry) for this time of the year.

The warmspot was Garden River, AB at 34.9C.

Warmest low was Ashcroft, BC at 22.3C.

Sun's out!

Currently sunny and 19 at just after 12pm. Slightly cooler day on tap, highs only expected around 20.

Temperatures rebound tomorrow, and by the looks of the long-range forecast we are likely headed into another period of well above seasonal temperatures starting around mid-week through the weekend, with highs in the high 20s. Dew points looking pretty low though, so it'll likely be a very dry heat as opposed to a gross high-humidity affair.

A taste of how dry it's been outside people's gardens.

Ashcroft gets a "tropical low" with no humidity.

I've had some pretty delightful swims at Kits and English Bay and I'm not a fan of cold water.

By comparison the outdoor public pool near me is 24 or less most of the summer. Mysteriously cold compared to other pools. Maybe something to do with the local ground conditions?

Then on top of that when you factor in droughts, more extreme temperatures, higher forest fires risk... it's not really one downside aspect but a lot more.
The worst thing with humidity than people can say is subjective about how someone feels. Maybe more risk of flooding as well but the negative list ends there.

The dry air does make my lips dry, so nothing is perfect, but as for my skin overall? Nope. In fact the humidity here, with the constant moisture under my clothes, gives me rashes and hives, which is also very common among the students at my school due to the humidity and my own two children at home. Even my Japanese wife gets rashes from the humidity during summer.

Its also much much much worse for mold in houses and spoiling food.

One of the first things they teacxh newcomers to Japan is to be careful of mold on matresses because of the high humidity.
