It's another lovely summer day in Vancouver, sunny, temperatures ranging from 23°C at YVR, to 27°C downtown, and 29°C inland.

The cold front is just about here, we should get a much-needed soaking tonight.

High today was 30.6 with a humidex of 41, low of 20.3.

Lytton’s official high today was 40.0. I didn’t think it would happen this year, but Lytton pulled it off.

Some close contenders were both Ashcroft and Kamloops at 39.4.

Many other places were between 36 to 38 today (Kelowna, Summerland, Osoyoos…)

Everyday is sticky, and the air pollution in Manila doesn't help with that. Always a little grime on your skin. This is why nearly half the men walk around without a shirt on, because your clothes just get damp as soon as you move, and then when you do go into an airconditioned environment you start to shiver from your now cold and damp clothes.

Like you I'm a dry heat guy, its heat you can actually enjoy without feeling sticky and gross (though the trade off is in dry heat you need to be careful of getting heat stroke through dehydration, since you don't realize how much you are sweating because it evaporates so quickly).

28C with a humidex of 34 and a mix of sun and clouds. With had a 15 min shower at around 2PM.

Low of 20C (humidex of 25) this morning.

The warmspot was Lytton, BC at 40.0C. Didn't think they would hit but here we go, first 40C this year in the country.

Warmest low was Port Weller, ON at 22.5C.

High in Moncton today (yesterday) was 28C (humidex 31), Currently at just past midnight it is 21C with a heavy thundershower. Definitely beneficial rain since it has been quite dry in the Maritimes over the last month.

Metro, you cannot tell me your skin isn't in better shape in a humid climate (since you are in Japan). As someone with sensitive skin, I can tell you any dewpoint below 15C, tons of moisturizers and creams need to be applied or else things aren't pretty. Dewpoints above 15C, I can usually go on my daily business without worrying at all. I found 15C to be the sweet spot.

Then on top of that when you factor in droughts, more extreme temperatures, higher forest fires risk... it's not really one downside aspect but a lot more.
The worst thing with humidity than people can say is subjective about how someone feels. Maybe more risk of flooding as well but the negative list ends there.

Must have been the same front that went through here at midnight (the front was oriented WSW to ENE, and was quite elongate, stretching back into Texas).

The lightning was only moderately intense here (I've certainly seen worse), but, the rain was torrential for at least 45 minutes.

Currently 18C and cloudy in Moncton at 9 AM, going up to 24C this afternoon. The humidity is gone.

still heavy dens smoke. 13c and checking the nasa map the forest fires now ontop of my towns wooden power lines see what happens. the way this has burned overnight is about what we were hoping for a slow creeping burn. but we cant get buckets in to cool the poles with the dens heavy smoke and temps are suppost to shiit up to 28 today

Definitely the worst thunderstorm for as long as I've lived here. The one we had a few summers ago was pretty intense too, but the frequency of lightning last night was on another level. Some mid-level rotation in the storm as well, very rare for Newfoundland.

I escaped the endless storms/rain in Calgary to spend 6 glorious days in Nova Scotia. Was sunny, blue skies and hot! Seems I brought it back as Calgary has now managed to have 2 days in a row of dry sunny weather!

One more day before were suckered back into the wet stuff.

Cooled dramatically today.
22C (humidex of 23) and a mainly cloudy. Some sun earlier on.

Low of 17C this morning. First night with the AC off this week. Definitely lows in that range are perfect sleeping conditions.

The warmspot was Warfield, BC at 38.7C. Looks like that Lytton 40 degrees will remain the lone such mark this year.

Warmest low was Lytton, BC at 22.6C.

Overall we had some great heat this July but the chilly periods were strong in between.

If we take the famous July's of 2018 and 2020, both July's saw ONE high below 25C all month (and in 2020's case, it was 24.9C

).

Today was our 5th such day this month.
