Next time save any interestingly shaped rocks for me! My MIL is loving all the rocks we're painting as she's displaying them inside and in the garden at her house and the cottage. And giving to her cottage friends to do the same.
I just discovered what water marbling is ordered supplies for that. Taking the new hobby to the next level.

This end of the beach was rocky so no one was using it. So we set up shop here.

Super muggy here yesterday too, our high was at least 34.4, humidex was 45 and the dew point was 25. Great if you’re at the beach, but pretty uncomfortable when you have to go out and run errands. I’ll take it though, summer only lasts so long.

Extremely muggy today. Headed to Rouge Urban National Park, which basically straddles Toronto and Durham. Its a huge park, we stuck a small section around the Little Rouge River.
Tons of crayfish in this river. That's usually a sign of clean water.
WOW! You mentioned that the plants in your city were starting to turn yellow because of the lack of rain—but from your photos the grass looks absolutely lush. Quick question: before today’s rain, how many mm of precipitation fell in June and July (up through July 25)? I really wish the grass here in Palermo was dry and yellow like in St. John’s! :sbarazzino:

I posted last year after Love Park opened about how quickly the water turned green with algae or pond scum on the bottom. I thought the water would have some circulation to prevent that. Anyway, same thing happened this year and they drained this time to pressure wash the bottom. Perhaps the multiple heat waves are doing a real number on this place.
And the trend continues of seeing rare things in multiples this summer. I posted numerous examples the past few weeks and here we go again. I posted a while ago about visiting this mini safety village and seeing a mini McDonalds. One week later what does McDs come out with for their happy meals? Mini McDonalds.
And on Thursday I was at a doctors appointment and saw one of these bugs on the sidewalk. I didn't take a pic because it was in front the waiting room window. I get home and there's one on my driveway. I've only seen one of these once before.
I don't know if the hot weather has anything to do with it, but the past couple of weeks I've seen more crayfish than ever before. And today saw dozens of frogs. More than I've ever seen.
After moving to Japan I realized that there are a couple smaller varieties in BC too, but I had always mistaken them as a “different type” of cricket whenever I had come across them.

29C with a humidex of 33 and sunny. A bit of hazy sky because of forest fires. Otherwise a perfect day. I think we will soon need a hefty tax/transfer for polluting provinces (smoke) towards affected ones. Maybe this way it will incentivize people to do a better job with forests.
