That's a bold colour choice. Normally, I'd say that merlot usually ages well, but in this case I have some doubts.

It's still weird that 15 years ago I'd be sleeping in my car down there and I could comfortably be in the trees and now it's been completely razed.
I do really hope the vegetation grows back in the following decades.

Ardea is moving way slower than Wesgroup's other buildings in River District, they usually seem to get down to construction really quick. I was in River District in September and was shocked that the Ardea lot had seen no progress or sign of construction yet, and it had been advertised for at least two years at that point, that was weird to me. It is pretty much greenfield development too, not like there's a complicated demo, wonder why Wesgroup took so long, especially considering their high rise projects in the rest of River District got going faster (seemingly). I always had faith in them though, they seem reliable as a developer and truly committed to this new neighbourhood, so I wasn't really fearing an empty lot for ages to come, I knew they'd start, but it seemed on the long end to start. Yay for excavation

I can tell you this, I am glad it was Wesgroup and not Onni *shudders*. We'd probably have only a fraction of the buildings done in the same time span. Onni seems the worst for keeping vacant, unsightly properties for years and years (ie. their abomination of a pit next to Emily Carr), and taking forever to actually complete all of their master plan communities (ie. Imperial Landing in Steveston, Suter Brook in Port Moody, Fremont Village in Poco). The fact they are behind the new tallest building in the province (Two Gilmore Place) is shocking to me, it should've been someone better LOL! The Pearson Dogwood site is another barf fest that has come to a halt. Wesgroup seems more efficient, timely, and reliable than Onni, so happy they are doing River District.

Just to give perspective on how bad it is: here is my photo from September 5, 2022, almost 2,5 years ago

The site was cleared, and being used for other River District projects, but Wesgroup only started sales for Ardea mid October 2023, and estimated completion is Spring 2028.

Looks like a pit craving a caisson.
