The reality is there are just better options for younger people these days. I will say there seems to continued momentum on the northern half of Old City. We went to First Friday a two weeks ago for old times sake. It was kinda wild the crowd was pretty split between young ppl and boomers. There was no one there our age (40s). I got the sense there's a good community of empty nesters who've moved into the city relatively recently. Anyway, FF was no where near the activity of the late 2000s but it was still fun.

edit: to add the revamped plaza on front and market should help make it a bit more appealing too.

Where did you go in Northern Old City that you saw a crowd? There isn't really anything there?

On the northern end of 3rd St there were 4-5 galleries that had a good amount of people; one had a DJ. 2nd street was pretty much dead. We did go relatively early.

Spanish airline Iberia plans to add flights at Philadelphia International Airport

Spain-based Iberia plans to launch service to Philadelphia International Airport in the coming years, the airline told investors last week.

Philadelphia International Airport spokesperson Heather Redfern said in an emailed statement to the Business Journal that PHL is working with Iberia to "build the case" for the airline to offer service between Philadelphia and Madrid, and is "enthusiastic for them to eventually start service." No start date or flight frequency for the service has been finalized, according to Redfern.

In June 2024, Turkish Airlines Chairman Ahmet Bolat told Travel Weekly that PHL is on the carrier's wish list of future U.S. destinations.

Iberia and American already code share, so I don't get how this would be additional service? Would this duplicate service between PHL and MAD with both carriers offering the flight, or would they simply replace AA service with Iberia the way that American started doing the PHL to Doha route instead of Qatar Airways? I'd be all for competition to Madrid to lower pricing, but otherwise it's not really service expansion or improvement.

Not really, Iberia would be using their own plane for the route. And I see this as an additional service and not a replacement. Iberia will be using a smaller plane with very little cargo capacity. So I see both American and Iberia flying to MAD.

Qatar leaving PHL was a different reason. Rumor has that AA had a massive incentive to fly to Doha and probably got more profits out of PHL than JFK. The PHL-DOH is quite booked very often.

Does anyone have access to the scheduled reductions in the various taxes that were approved as a part of this year's budget? If I remember correctly, the schedule goes through 2039.

Everything I've read only publishes next year's cuts which to be frank, are miniscule and disappointing considering how much press the topic has received.

Nice, hopefully that brings the price down some with the added seats going. I don't like going to EWR/JFK but half the price for a family of 4 makes it worth it.

That's the article I read. It has year 1 cuts and the final rate in 2039. It doesn't have the yearly schedule.

For the wage tax at least, the rate in 2029 (not 2039 in this case) will be 3.70% so I would just assume the reduction to be 0.01% per year. So if you make $100,000, you can buy 3/4 of a can of beer at Citizens Bank Park with your annual savings.

Brick all the way up along Girard would have been great, but this still turned out looking nice.

I've been watching this one for a while and yeah it'd be a slam dunk with brick to the top. The cornice looks great which I was afraid would be VEd out like usual, and the concrete (?) bands look good too. There's even a lot of brick on the side which I would have gladly traded for the top 2 floors, but there's still a lot to like

What a massive upgrade, that 7/11 was disgusting. Hopefully The Jumbo Theater and McDonald's are next.

Drove by today and It looks like the project at powelton and Market broke ground. It looked like piles of some kind sticking out of the ground and a lot of dirt moved. Can’t recall how many floors

Alterra's project at 5th and Bainbridge is all fenced up with backhoes on site. I hope this mean it's moving forward.
