It's not that the drug addicts have discovered it. It's more so a case of there being an insane uptick in the homeless and drug addicts in the entire Surrey core due to the erosion of low-income housing units (legacy apartments and basement suites). The area was swept clean with the homeless being transitioned into a modular housing complex between 2015-208 but the the entire core from 108th to 100th Ave has gone to hell since 2022.
I'm also a firm believe that open aired hubs do not work in this part of the world and it's always a matter of time before these spaces fall into disrepair and feel less inviting. Security personnel and the police will only respond to situations within the establishments.
I wish the King George Hub had included an enclosed shopping area.
