It seems as if Major League Baseball is possibly exapanding again, and Charlotte and Raleigh are on the list. If the State is really interested in equal distribution of major league sports as announced (at one time anyway) then why is the so-called Triad not on the list? Charlotte's CSA is just over 3 million and Raleigh's is just over 2 million while the Triad is at almost 2 million. So, why not the Triad? Recall, in 1997-1998 there was a major push to woo the Minnesota Twins to the Triad with the stadium to be built straddling the Forsyth-Guildford boundary. I do not recall but I think Forsyth very narrowly defeated or approved (not sure) while Guildford soundly deafeated the peoposal based on tax issues, which as I recall would have been 1 cent per person. Anyway, one suspects other reasons why it was defeated. It seems as if the Triad ought to throw its hat into this ring (again) as well, thereby having major league sports in the three major CSAs in the State.
