What does Maple Ridge have going for them in comparison? I'm genuinely curious. If a Haney Place extension is going to be as long as the Langley City one, they'll need some really good arguments.

Remember SkyTrain phasing is just as much about GROWTH-SHAPING as it is about GROWTH-SERVING.

And again, there's evidently not much growth to shape in Maple Ridge; they haven't even done anything with the train stations they've already had for the last thirty years.

The current discussion should be continued, if so desired, in the general transit thread.

Back on track, does anybody know when they will remove the decking return to regular road traffic on Broadway?

It looks like the ceilings of have been poured, specifically at Mt Pleasant station where you can see. Are they going to redo that area of Broadway soon or still wait until near completion?

None of this is an argument for SLS over King George. I'm not sure if you've seen a map, but a north-south connection down the backbone of Surrey would do much more for the SOF bus network than a Langley Skytrain.

And since when were Maple Ridge and Port Coquitlam not some of the tightest swing ridings?

I believe the street plan was approved? Not much point in opening back up to six lanes if they're just going to close two again.

I'm talking about when, not what. Removing the decking, re-allowing turning that is banned now, etc.

Decking, not sure. Turning et al may very well stay banned until the permanent street is finished.

In May, rail installation was completed between GNW-Emily Carr & Broadway-City Hall Station. Crews are now working on the elevated guideway.

To be fair... infrequent one-way commuter rail isn't much of a TOD driver. All day service every 30 minutes... well now we're talking.

The question I have... is which will come first... UBC or SFU Gondola? Logic says SFU gondola... but logic doesn't always win out.

They started work on the above ground entrances for GNW/Mount Pleasant.

130 concrete trucks to Broadway City Hall tomorrow all day.

Posted Aug 14th:

Oak-VGH Station

Here, crews continue to construct above-ground walls at Oak-VGH Station. These walls are for the future station entrance.

Posted Aug 12th:

Arbutus Station

New rooms are taking shape at Arbutus Station. Crews have begun installing equipment to transform this structure into an operational SkyTrain station.
These are the tunnel ventilation fan rooms. Large fans are being installed here to help move air throughout the tunnels.
