Wow, yes please! That would be an amazing addition to the Broadway area... Maybe Westcliffe will be tempted to partner with these guys

This seems a bit pie-in-the-sky, but wow... would it be incredible if something even similar materializes there.
Those are really fun!

This is really interesting. I know as a part of bidding to buy the land you need a project proposal and a construction plan. I really hope this is part of their bid. Peepeekisis has some money from a government settlement in 2021 and maybe they're looking to invest. Also this kind of reminds me of Marine City in Chicago

Great job on the internet sleuthing for this skeet, this is the content I subscribe for!! haha I’m imagining (and loving) what the Meewasin valley between downtown and Broadway will be like with these two projects in addition to the 555 Eastlake, 509 12th St., and Highpoint developments. Let’s hope that the Prairie Lily can continue to showcase the city until all of these (hopefully) come to fruition.

I was thinking the same thing as Dreamer, definitely Marina City vibes haha I haven’t seen a release that Parcel G sold and figure that’s what the ‘competition’ status is for online.

I am trying to be optimistic about these projects, but I just feel that a lot of developers are holding back because of the potential impacts of tariffs on construction material and even the "buyers" market....although I do think Saskatoon is in short supply of ALL types of housing currently.

It would be amazing to see any one of these projects moving forward, let alone all of them.

Disappointing news about office complex on 12th. Hope they find an anchor tenant soon!

Very cool projects.
The one by M Rad on parcel G was announced on their IG end of April and on their website this is the bio of their Saskatoon born CEO and Founder, here's hoping he's excited to invest more energy into his hometown:

"Matthew Rosenberg’s most recent acclamations have landed him on Forbes ‘Small Giants’ list while INC. Magazine has named him one of the ‘Top 10 Designers Every Business Should Have On Their Radar.’ His mission is to resolve the inefficiencies of the design industry by expanding the scope of the architect. He continues to expand his services while still providing architecture, design, real estate development, branding, marketing, interior design, and product development all in support of healthier and higher level experiences.

Rosenberg has worked on theaters, museums, public arts developments, hotels, members clubs, multifamily buildings, creative offices, biotech labs, and luxury homes around the world – all ranging in size from 275 square feet up to 850,000 square feet. He has developed a variety of consumer products including prefabricated affordable mobile housing, antimicrobial mobile testing units for Covid-19, arthritis utensils, custom fragrances, a mobile tee-to-green golf experience, and zero-waste flatpack planters. In 2012 he started M-Rad Inc which was listed on Inc Magazines’ fastest-growing companies in both California and the United States in 2020.

Rosenberg grew up in Saskatoon, SK where he resided until he completed high school in 2000 from Aden Bowman Collegiate. He currently resides in Los Angeles, CA where he has worked on over 50 international projects since starting M-Rad.

He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art (University of Saskatchewan), a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture (Dalhousie University), and a Masters of Architecture (SCI-Arc) which he received alongside a Selected Thesis Award. He has also studied architecture at McGill University in Montreal and the Louvre in Paris."

Reading about Matthew's studying of Architecture at Dalhousie...is U of S still showing interest to get an architecture school going?

Was driving by the Parktown hotel this morning and noticed work taking place in front of their restaurant. I hope this is for an outdoor deck/dining area! Something sorely lacking along our riverfront (except for Hearth at Remai Modern).

Can anyone confirm what is actually happening at the Parktown?

From https://www.parktownhotel.com/details/renovations

"Our Terrace is currently under construction and will be ready to welcome you in spring 2025. This modern outdoor space will offer breathtaking views and a relaxing atmosphere for both dining and lounging."

I agree. We have such a beautiful river valley, yet so few places where we can sit on a restaurant patio, have a coffee/beer, and overlook it. This new development is much-needed and I expect it to be popular.

Drake Meats announces plans for new processing plant in Saskatoon

By Neil Billinger
CJWW Radio
May 20, 2025

The 53,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility will significantly increase Drake Meat’s production capacity by approximately 8-million kilograms of product annually.

To support construction of the new meat processing plant, there will be financing with Farm Credit Canada and equity proceeds from an investment group led by the Golden Opportunities Fund.

A little digging shows Meridian Developments as a client listed on the architect's homepage... which would make sense due to Escala next door. These lots have been zoned for multi-unit residential for a while and currently have 4-5 run-down character homes on them.

The CEO of this firm looks to be a once-local guy called Matthew Rosenberg, currently heading this firm out of LA. Instagram post about the previous Parcel G renderings have him saying he's excited to bring his designs home to Saskatoon, so maybe they're more than conceptual?
Arches are the hot thing in architecture right now. Seeing lots of proposals with it.

Everyone using Rome's "The Palace of Italian Civilization" building as their precedent work haha.

Sure goes nicely with the arches of the Broadway Bridge.

Very true.

If more projects atop the broadway bridge can come to fruition it makes for a nice cross-river hub of buildings.

That arched building is pretty sweet! I think it would take the spot of 5 houses on university drive just off 12th st. Is there a way to know if the houses have sold recently? Or which developer scooped them up? With the escala next door to the building I would think meridian but who knows.

I haven't heard about it in years. I attended the open house at the Mendel back in 2008. Since then haven't heard much.

It looks there was another open house in 2016.

There's still talk, but that's it. Hasn't been any real progress on a Saskatchewan School of Architecture in years.

I do like the design and appreciate any creativity and uniqueness with big multi story proposals in Saskatoon. I just first saw upside down egg cartons and now can't unsee it...
