A big reason why domestic traffic hasn't recovered to the same extent at YYZ, YOW & YUL is the huge loss of day tripper triangle traffic. Eastern triangle capacity is still down something like 35% compared with 2019.

Some new airline routes for YYC this spring/summer. La Guardia gets serviced by AA in addition to existing WS service. Minneapolis gets serviced in addition to existing Delta service. Munich, Mexico city and Raleigh are new destinations.

Interesting to see the North Carolina action. Last year WS rolled out flights to Charlotte and now adding Raleigh.

April 12th: Munich on 4Y (passed)
May 14th: Mexico City on WS (tonight)
May 16th: Minneapolis on WS
June 7th: LaGuardia on AA
June 10th: Sydney NS on WS
June 11th: Hamilton on PD

WS backed out YYC-LGA before it even started, and AA runs CLT not WS.

Interesting flight number observation: Both PD and AC are using 447 flight numbers within 40 minutes of each other out of YOW.

WS launched (or re-launched) YYC-MEX last night. Both the in and outbound were full and the route has very good advance bookings.

They also started YEG-SLC today too, with YYC-MSP to follow tomorrow.

YHZ-CDG re-starts tomorrow / with YYT-CDG on Sunday.

Probably because a 737 can easily make it between the two cities whereas I don’t think there’s enough juice for a 737 to make the same trip from Winnipeg.

You guys either need to land FI on a MAX to KEF or wait until there's an abundance of XLRs. If AF were ever to order the XLR, I think YWG-CDG would happen.

Also as suspected, international turned to positive in April thanks to the first full month of LHR. However, as can be seen, strip away LHR, assume CDG was +2% (772 vs 359 with the same loads) and sun flying was in the -20% range. YOW had a substantial lack of sun capacity in winter 2024-25. Expect May international to be at least +50% though.

I'm so pleased this year. It's more than enough. I just wanted one option that didn't require flying to TO to connect to Europe, and thereby tripling the travel time.

It's great to see Westjet add variety to YYT-Transatlantic when they could have just chosen one European airport.

Connecting through YYZ from YYT to go to Europe when both YHZ and YUL are a shorter flight with lots of connection options doesn't make a lot of sense.

Regardless take advantage of the those direct YYT-Europe flights.

Fair! And YUL has always been the first choice for certain airports (i.e. going from here to Lisbon, it's almost always more convenient and cheaper to go through YUL).

I'm old, and my last international trip was, I think, Sept. 2019. So, back then, YHZ didn't really feature as an option for us. i.e., that trip, we flew to TO heading to Europe, but to YHZ flying back. I passed over St. John's and St. Pierre and was pissed about it. 6-hour layover in Halifax, then back to St. John's

But today, yes, YHZ has lots. I expect it's rare and unnecessary to go to TO now. I'll have to adjust my mental picture of the current process.
