Didn't they even do wind testing? They've obviously spent a good sum of money on this venture so far, so hopefully you're right.

Fortunately, Moncton's economy isn't affected by tariffs as much as other cities. Also we will continue to see growth in Moncton, although not as explosive as the recent peak years. The vacancy rates according to CMHC are still very low, so housing demand is still strong.

According to Riberview, there are some major projects in the pipeline. (VERY tall buildings)

I distinctly remember somebody sharing their post on LinkedIn about using a 30-storey miniature model for wind testing, yes. It seems weird if they haven't done any other important tests at this point. I do hope it's all just them waiting for the Riverview project to finish.

Yes they did wind testing, and they have probably done a lot of other work behind the scenes that we are not privy to.

This speculation is pointless really. It's just making us all anxious. We should know in a few months if they are proceeding this year.

I don't know how significant this is, but they haven't started the 3rd building in Riverview yet. They started the 2nd building well before the 1st one was topped out. Now the 2nd one is topped off and nothing yet on #3.

Does this mean that they plan to start Infinity next then circle back to Riverview later to build #3? Or is there no connection at all between R'view & Infinity.

Another spanner thrown into the works regarding any activity at the Infinity site this summer:

Disruptions, detours expected as part of Moncton's Main Street gets dug up this summer
Paving, installation of stormwater line planned for busy section of road between Dieppe and Moncton

Shane Magee · CBC News · Posted: Apr 08, 2025 6:00 AM ADT | Last Updated: 2 hours ago
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/moncton-council-main-street-construction-1.7503968

Quote:
Moncton council awarded a $5.3-million contract to Eastco Construction Inc. to install a stormwater pipe and repave about one kilometre of the street between Mechanic Street and Dieppe city limits.

The work is expected to start by the end of April and be complete by early September.

Lagacé said the plan is to keep two-way traffic flowing for most of the project. However, there will be some lane closures and about a month when there will be a major detour around the intersection of Main and King streets.
Quote:
The new pipe is part of a multi-year project to separate stormwater from the sanitary sewer on St. George Street.

CBC Photo - you can see the ICON sign at the Infinity site, right smack dab in the middle of the upcoming construction zone

CBC Photo - this shows the extent of the road reconstruction zone

This sewer and road project will not be complete until September. During this time, access to the Infinity site will be severely restricted. I doubt we will see any construction at Infinity until the fall at the earliest.

I wonder which end of the street they'll start work at? If work starts at the Wheeler end of the proposed route, then they could probably have that area done enough to provide access to the Tower site relatively quickly.

I'd hope the city consulted the developer while making these road plans so they could better coordinate in general. (but left hand not knowing the right hand is common so who knows). This work might have been pushed forward to now so it would be done and out of the way before the Tower work starts in earnest; if it waited a year or t wo it would be even more disruptive I'm sure.

The bulk of the work will be from the Main/King intersection east towards the Chateau Moncton. This is where the new storm sewer outflow pipe leading to the Petitcodiac is being built. There will be major excavation here and street closures. This right in front of the Infinity site, and will happen mostly in July. Preliminary work however begins this month.

ICON Riverview construction site today: Two flat bed trucks removing those braces they use between floors during construction of concrete buildings. So it doesn't appear as though they intend to start the 3rd building any time soon.

I don't know if this means anything with relation to Infinity, but I thought I'd throw it out there!

I wouldn’t worry to much. So many of these developments take time. Sometimes it can be 3-4 years after an announcement for projects to start. Especially one this big. They will probably wait for the city to finish the road work etc around the project before moving forward

I spoke to soon… there is still no date when it will start though. Also it’s taller then what we thought the website shows the tower height to be 340ft which is 103m

Nice find!

Quote:
Harper Street, MONCTON, NB

Main Tower – 30 Storeys
Podium – 2-5 Storeys
Main Tower Height – 340 ft
Number of units – 294
Underground Parking Spaces – 231
Construction Date – TBD
Although the construction date is still to be determined, we should take solace in the fact that they are very definitely still planning on a 30 storey tower, This should put to rest any malicious rumours regarding the soil conditions and stability of the substrate.

Most recent renderings:

^ Impressive height but too much "wall" and not enough "window" for the size. Looks like 5 regular 6 floor buildings stacked on top of each other.

I wonder what will be in the penthouse of this building? The second render above clearly shows at least one glass faced wall, suggesting it may be a common space of some form. Will this be for residents only, or, could it be open to the public too (restaurant or rooftop cocktail bar/observation level like at FiveFive Queen)???

A restaurant or cocktail bar would be somewhat unusual atop a residential building I think, particularly without a dedicated elevator.

Yep, when you do see them they tend to be atop of a hotel or sometimes an office tower. (like the old Bay Tower Room in Boston on top of 60 State St. )

The other issue is you often pay a ton for the view in restaurants on top of a tower. You really need a city with lots of tourists and out of town business travelers on generous expense accounts.

Check out the prices at Top of Vancouver......

Agreed. The roof top bar at FiveFive Queen works because of the Canvas Hotel. I suspect this will be a common space community room/fitness centre for residents.

You don't think there is any chance it will be several large, high end apartments for big rents ? Looks like there could be proper terraces rather than just balconies.
