I'm actually half Anglo-Quebecker. The other half is a Heinz-57 mix of British/Welsh/Scottish/Flemish/German.

Actually, according to the latest leger poll, after distributing for undecided respondents, support for Quebec sovereignty is up to 40% now.

Even the baseline 36% is higher than the outdated 32% you're quoting. Storm clouds are forming in Carney's Canada.

Yep, it's even a complete mystery why the Montreal Jewish community continues to ignore national trends and insist on voting for a red mailbox. Their counterparts in Toronto and Vancouver clearly do not see eye-to-eye.

If the PQ can govern better than the CAQ (that's a low bar to clear...) starting next year, then that 40% could climb up.

IIRC it was in those ranges (30%-40%) in the early 1990s, but then the actual result in '95 was close to 50-50.

~40% support, a couple years before a potential referendum, is actually remarkably high IMO.

I still think that "CAQ" is the funniest name for a political party I've ever heard, especially given the prevalence of English in MTL, and what that abbreviation sounds like in English lol.

It's like they went out of their way to pick an abbreviation for Anglos to make jokes about, or curse them in derision since they have made life so much harder for Anglophone Quebeckers.

Starting late 2026, we'll likely be able to bring out CAQ signs “miss us yet?” targeting Anglos…

Just like they are fed up with the federal Liberals?

How is life so much harder for Anglophone Quebeckers?

Nuit des Anglo-Saxons will be its name in the Anglo-American press.
