He's posted 6 times in this thread since its inception. Unlike his argumentative interlocutor. He even gave some praise about his contributions regarding historical aspects.

Let's take a look at that so-called trolling.

How is this "trolling"?

You are not making a good argument here.

It's not trolling, it's just character assassination, without any positive contribution to the subject-matter of the thread, as you quotes illustrate quite well.

You mean like, constantly disparaging 'Anglo Saxons'?
And Canada?

If I posted your contributions as quotes, they would illustrate it quite well.

If there is a contentious post, you know how to report it. Then all the mods can see the contentious post, and weigh in prior to making a decision.

He lives in a CMA that is partially Quebec...

(Note that it doesn't say much; one can live even in Quebec (in some parts of Montreal) and still be a total stranger on most counts.)

Yes, of course. Why would you even think otherwise? I'm physically in very Québécois areas most of the year, every year. I can't help it, it's home. (Whether I like it or not, it's still home.)

It is not uncommon at all to see the term "Anglo-Saxon" used for the English-speaking world in France. Sometimes the usage is neutral, sometimes there's some spin on the ball. Who cares?

I don't like this vibe of hammering down the nail that sticks up. So the Quebec thread has a guy from France who posts a lot about this issue and riles people up. Post back. Characterize the Gauls. Or forget about it because you're not really as into it as he is.

Canadians aren't supposed to be the team always calling for the ref.

They've been told by several Francophone forumers (both from North America and Europe) that "Anglo-Saxon" is a neutral term, but they keep insisting it's derogative. What can you do about it? It's a post-truth world.

It's as if they said "American" was a derogative term just because some people don't like Americans or American things. Silly, but that's basically the logic.

The term Anglo-Saxon as far as I know, in of itself is not derogatory. It's commonly used in the context of WASP or White Anglo-Saxon Protestants.

I suppose, however, it could be used in a demeaning way depending on the context and tone of which it is used. For example, "you Anglo-Saxons are so (insert insult)"! And if that insult gets repeated and associated with Anglo-Saxons enough, it could become synonymous. For example, "that's so Anglo-Saxon of you"! In which case it could be argued that the term is now derogatory, which is defined in the Oxford Dictionary as "showing a critical attitude and lack of respect for somebody".

The impact is muted over there in Sweden, to be sure.

Yes, like any word it can be wielded with different tones. NB can claim plausible deniability whenever he wants but it doesn’t hide what many of us readily observe. I don’t really care about his use of “Anglo-Saxon” but rather the condescending tone. If you come to a forum and deride the identity of the majority of its members, you won’t be met with roses. It’s simple cause and effect.

Context and tone are exactly it.
I'll give it up to 'lost in translation', but I think the person in question is much more intelligent than that.

Indeed. In fact, our posting guidelines do touch upon this. It specifies a "party or people of a certain political slant" but I think the same concept can apply to a group of people in a country or ethnic background, or any group of whatever.

Quote:
Users should refrain from lumping people into a broad group or applying negative labels to a party or people of a certain political slant as a means of trolling and eliciting a response by belittling them. Basically, if it's something that would bother you if someone said it about your political party or political slant, then you should refrain from doing the same.
