Ah, so at first I was Russian, but now I have the "common tendency" of French people. We're making some progress!

I’ve accused him several times of being a Russian bot or foreign agent provocateur. I’ve even given him the nickname “Yuri.”

I have now accepted the fact that he is simply a haughty Parisian with a serious superiority complex as far as Anglo-Saxons (his derisive term for English speaking people) is concerned. The chip on his shoulder is the size of a Douglas fir log.

His comments can be quite bizarre and especially the generalizations and terms he uses for certain types of people. I don't know of many francophones who make comments like he does and I know quite a few from different countries. I think he was trying to get a rise out of some people on here the other day when he was referring to Indigenous peoples on our continent as "les Indiens" like it was his right to use that term.

Our friend New Brisavoine has character that's for sure. I also thought at times that he's maybe a little too involved in our national and political issues. The reactions he elicits however are on a different level. People on this forum are often quick to dismiss or ridicule polarizing opinions, especially if they are of the more conservative type. Sometimes you even see the ultimate "you're racist" card being played out, out of desperation more often than not.

New Brisavoine is interested in Quebec/Canada matters and his posts are often thought-provoking. I have no issue with his contributions, and I think they are welcome on a sub-forum that is borderline an echo-chamber anyway.

Or it would be if dissenting opinions were not allowed (Acajack has already been silenced now). Some people here apparently created that thread (or intend this thread) to be a place to say that all is well in the best of worlds for Québec and the French language in Canada, look how the French language is thriving and what a progressive country we are.

If that's the case, you might as well close the the thread and bask in the blissful feeling that all is quiet on the western front. Just don't come asking with a look of disbelief "WTF??" if someday something goes wrong with Québec and sovereignism...

You do realize this sounds insane?

If X is the big leagues of discourse-manipulation, we are four kids with a stick and half a tennis ball behind an abandoned house.

Moderator note: Just correcting some misinformation here. Acajack was suspended for one week for violation of forum rules (verbal abuse directed towards several other forumers), not for posting "dissenting opinions".

Ah, Brisavoine lives in Paris, but he's known as a proud Toulousain.
You guys don't know your foe yet.

I thought the forum didn't allow ad hominem arguments or attacks.
We all know Bris is stubborn. No one could ever make him understand that cars took too much room in Paris and I think he was even banned from the French forum because of his bloody temper.
Nevertheless, as far as he goes, he never infringes the rules here.

Guys, with respect, I think it’s disrespectful for you to come into this thread and try to litigate the moderation of the forum in front of everyone. You should be thanking us for trying to bring an end to the conflicts. Have you said thank you once?

Henceforth, please stay on topic as axe grinding about forum moderation is off topic and will be deleted. If this behavior persists, I'm afraid we will have to close or suspend the thread until we can ascertain the behavior is rehabilitated. If you feel you have been personally insulted or verbally assaulted by another forumer, feel free to report the post(s) and the moderation team will review and issue discipline as warranted.

Fine. Not a troll by the strict definitions. And I too have found the historical references to be educational.

But changing the topic when it goes against his/her prior posts, being argumentative most of the time, and ignoring intelligent rebuttals is just not right.

Says a guy who NEVER participates in this thread, and comes here suddenly only to do some character assassination. This is the sort of behavior which should be repressed by the mods.

Okay… but any thoughts on Prime Minister Carney’s French?

It's bad. Everyone will be able to tell you that. New Brisavoine agrees.

You might as well ask me what New Brisavoine thinks 2+2 is, and I will answer for him "4".

True, ScreamingViking is THE definition of a troll: comes here only to drop inflammatory comment, then leaves.

What if you're here all the time making inflammatory comments (like NB). Is he a troll too????

Ca dépend dans quelle base. En base 3 ça ne ferait pas 4.
