Israel arguably meets every bullet point except for forcibly transferring children. At this point I honestly believe that they hate Palestinians so much that they would rather carpet bomb their kids out of existence than spend any time or energy ‘re-educating’ them.
B-b-but didn’t Justin Trudeau say we were all guilty of genocide?

Our country is obviously built on genocide and it’s delusional to claim otherwise.

We were, genocide doesn't just mean mass murder, it also means trying to destroy a culture and a people. To make their history and way of life disappear. The Canadian Government and the Catholic Church did this for decades. And we are finally admitting it as a society as part of our past and acknowledging the steps that need to be made to undo the years of damage. It's not meant to be a guilt trip on Canadians, it's an acknowledgement of past wrongdoings by our country and as a nation saying we can and must do better.

The admission of guilt shouldn't have taken as long as it did. I for one am glad it's finally been done and reconciliation can be made to undo some of the damage that was done.

I voted. Took about 8 minutes from the time I walked in to the polling place until I placed my ballot in the box.

I encourage the rest of you Canadians to do the same.

No outcry from Rebel News or any CPC supporters... but if it were someone dooing the same for the Liberal Party it would be front page news... or how Elections Canada is crooked and full of Liberal sympathizers...

They played this ad during last night's Leaf game. One of my friends made the comment, "They think bringing this guy out will help their chances?" We all had a good laugh. Whoever is in charge of PP's campaign should be fired. Way to scare more people away from your party guys.

His creepy smile at the end represents the party to a tee.

I think one of the interesting race will be in BC.

NDP support seems to be gaining slightly and that mostly hurts the Liberals and right now the Tories have also gained some support. Those Burnaby/Surrey/Langley area seats that were leaning Liberal a week ago are now in play. BC really is a mixed bag right now and very hard to forecast.

Ya, I agree, most people in the east think of BC as an NDP, Green Party province, but in reality, west of the Coastal Mountains, they vote very much in line with Alberta and Sask.

They are getting desperate when they are getting Harper to do an add. Still no CPC platform released so we don't know their full plan even though Harper says he does.

Interesting how they chose a playoff NHL game (or games?) to air it. Majority male audience and vast majority white. Harper mentions how both Carney and PP worked for him. Funny how he didn't actually say anything about Carney.

Jenni Byrne should indeed be fired but not for this.

Carey's role during Harper's tenure has been used as an implicit endorsement by the Liberals, and it's important for Harper to nip that in the bud. Harper also represents the sort of staid, competent leader that Carney purports to be - and that Canadians yearn for after Trudeau's shambolic ministry.

Evidently you were never going to vote for the Conservatives, so this advertisement will appear foolish to you. But it is certainly one of the few non-missteps from the Conservatives.

Poilievre worked for Harper. Carney worked with Harper.

Remember when Harper brought out Rob and Doug Ford for endorsements in 2015? That was hilarious. It was a last ditch attempt to persuade many people in the GTA to change their votes but it failed.

I’ll post this instead of saying what I actually feel hearing you compare an active genocide playing out in real time before our eyes vs one that happened before most of us were alive. And before you lay out some accusation of hypocrisy, most of those protesting for Gaza’s freedom also support reconciliation. Nice to know you oppose both.

Not wishing to weigh in too deeply today, I will say that from my perspective, both accusations of genocide (by Canadians and Israelis) are spurious, intellectually vacuous, and frankly shameful.

I do also think, for what it's worth, that military aid to Israel should be contingent on a credible day-after plan for Gaza. Which Israel has not presented as yet, to my knowledge. But also that the day after needn't begin until Hamas (an avowedly - actually - genocidal organisation) return the hostages they took.

As soon as that terrible attack happened, I immediately thought, oh no, they've just given the Israeli Government a green light to flatten Gaza and kill 10's of thousands of innocent people.

I would hope that if some terrible attack like that happened here in Canada, we wouldn't use it to justify murdering as many people as we want in the name of peace. This was used as a justification to destroy the lives of each and every Palestinian living in the West Bank.

Dartguard, is question for the I don't give a damn about the people (humans) of Gaza.

What would you do if you grew up in what is a giant Israeli jail called Gaza. You had no rights, you had no freedoms. You keep watching the Israeli government put more settlements on your land. You've been denied a future, forced into a life of poverty. And the kicker is this land you are on keeps getting smaller, and the land that used to belong to your people is now held by a government that wants you just to disappear. Would you be fine with that? Would you not expect friends, family, neighbours to reach a boiling point?

This fucking mess the Benjamin Netanyahu government has created with his disgusting bombing and murder of anybody in his way needs to end. Any global support outside of Frumps WH since the terrorist attack has been lost. Now, all we see is the carnage being inflicted on a defenceless people.

Shame on Benjamin Netanyahu, a war criminal, and shame on his supporters. As a Canadian I would be standing up for the people we had forced into hating us for the years of discrimination and authoritarianism we had forced on them.

As of 8 April 2025, over 52,000 people – 50,810 Palestinians and 1,706 Israelis have been killed in this new war – I wonder if all these murders will make the Israelis safer in the future??????? It hasn't worked before, has it? They are the ones creating the (terrorists) freedom fights of the future. Also, it is a genocide by every metric one can think of. The murder of children alone they are trying to wipe out a whole generation of people. Since the Oct 7th attack of the Israelis who have lost their lives, children represent 3.2% of fatalities. Of the over 50,810 Palestinians bombed to oblivion, children make up 31% of the deaths. Do you still wonder why so many people have stopped supporting Israel and are now protesting the freedom of the Gaza people?

I don't know how anybody can argue in favour of the carnage being done at the hands of the Netanyahu government. Not unless you view one group of people as more deserving of human rights over another.
My 6,000 Canadians in my Scenario was a proportionate Canadian population ratio to the casualties in Israel suffered in the October attack. Both Gaza and Israel had a workable Peace for 18 years. Palestinians crossed the border every day to earn a living in Israel and an entire generation of Israeli's and Palestinians did not know War. But they do now after the spectacular attack on October 7.
An attack that was more successful than planned and left the Israeli border open for hours so that a collection of usual suspects were able to participate in the Killing, raping, baking, Stabbing and looting with the final boredom of retreating with live humans back to Gaza. I say again there was 18 Years of relative Peace up until October 6.

Please do some research on the 2000 Peace accords hosted by Clinton. Arafat had a nervous breakdown at Camp David when the enormity of the Israeli Peace details started sinking in. He realized the Israeli's were serious and very generous. He also knew he would be murdered if he had tried to sell it to the hard core element of his community. THAT ELEMENT IS A DEATH CULT. They do not care who dies. We in the West always think that bunch will be bought off with a two State solution. Nope. Eradication of all Jews and their State or they will keep fighting. How do you placate that line of thinking?

Netanyahu has to keep up the War as he is going to Prison for the bribery and or the security calamity on October 7. Mr Trump is the only one that could stop him. Will he?

Foolish to me and my friends who have voted, but maybe not to those on the fence who may have forgotten how creepy that man was, or maybe are too young to remember. Any young voter might see that ad and wonder what's wrong with that man? It doesn't help that PP is also a bit creepy.

I have and will continue to vote conservative if and when I see a candidate and a party worthy of my vote again. This current CP party is just a strange circus of cringey candidates. Pulling out their biggest clown, thinking it will help, is laughable. IF I were Carney, I'd be very pleased with this Harper ad.

This is as scary as Pennywise. Not a good look for a party trying to look normal in these Frump times.
