For your information, I am a 60 year old gay {not queer} guy and coming out in the 80s during AIDS was no picnic. I remember being labelled everything in the book and someone coming out in this century has no concept of what we went thru.
That, however, does not make a drag queen telling stories at a public library to kids any less offensive. Accepting people of different backgrounds is one thing, allowing actors {not all drag queens are gay} to pretend they represent any group but fellow drag queens is quite another. It's not only highly inappropriate, it is an insult to women and girls. These people who pretend they are women for a laugh are sending the signal that women are just sexual objects who are bitchy, have big boobs, hair, and unintelligent. This is akin to the 1920's Minstrel shows. Use every stereotype in the book and then justifying it by saying "it's all in good fun".
I also am strongly against men competing in women's sports. In fact I don't know any gay people who aren't. It is a completely unfair advantage and will lead to the death of women's sports. I also don't agree with using the bathroom of your choice. These supposed gay rights activists who think they speak for everyone in the LGBT community {like somehow they were voted into office to represent anyone} only focus on how this would effect trans-kids but not at all taking into account that many of the other children could be very uncomfortable with it yet if they, or their parents, say anything against it, they are labelled homo/transphobic.
It's for these reasons that support for LGBT rights are actually on the decline in much of the West including Canada. The original purpose of the gay rights movement was to ensure equality rights but generally make it become a society where it simply doesn't matter. You are as much an ordinary citizen as anyone else. Now with the endless trans-demands, these organization demand they be treated differently and yet are somehow surprised that people, once again, are.
