So how is the English of our French far-left leader who is current strutting in Montréal? The guy has an ego (and balls) bigger than even Donald Trump. Thanks God the French, unlike the Americans, will never elect him president (even if he's convinced he will be elected in 2027).

Voters, you forget voters. America is also very decentralized, so a would-be dictator cannot take control of individual states. In Canada, as you can imagine, a tentative dictator in Ottawa couldn't subvert and take control of Québec. It's the same in the US.

Trump could invoke the Insurrection Act which would allow him to take control of individual state militias. He could order them into the streets to arrest dissidents and political opponents.

He has also installed loyalists in the US Joint Chiefs of Staff. Normally the federal armed forces can not be deployed domestically, but, if there was an apprehended insurrection, I think all bets would be off.

If Trump goes full Adolf (which iI think he could), things could get very messy very quickly (Civil War 2.0). Actually, it would be Civil War 3.0 since the Revolutionary War was really a civil war between rebel nativist Americans and loyalist British Americans.

It's happened twice before, why not go for the hat trick???

Is this reporter a BQ or CPC supporter?

I watched the French debate with subtitles and my limited knowledge of French... the score given to M. Carney compared to the other candidates here seems to be based on his French accent, rather than the content of his words?

I felt Prime Minister Carney did especially well in the French debate... this scores seem off.
