Yeah if it turns out to be true then that's really a bad look. There is actually a problem with some segments of the country who are overly cozy with MAGA and it disgusts me. But if this true, even if it only represent 1% of visible MAGA support then it encourages people to write off the other 99% as also being made up. And of course it would be unethical regardless of political impact.

Most twenty somethings and younger do not. Pandemic, at home schooling, no friends for 18 -24 months, zero job prospects for that Macdonald's experience, loss of older relatives, A far away War of people that look like us and a former very fake National leader.Don't even talk about moving out of Mom's house.

The Conservatives have at least been listening, The leader of the NDP looks like the folks at all the small business's their parents used to talk about as their first job experience and Young people don't participate in Polls. I really wonder if this elections turnout is going higher, much higher than the 63-68% of the last few elections and how many folks are being missed by the Frank Graves out there.
PP hasn't offered anything of significance to younger adults. He's talked a lot but I just don't see how any of his ideas would make much of a difference. I had it pretty difficult in my 20s and the economy was terrible. The provincial conservative party at the time was brutal and made things for young adults much worse than anything today. PP is just latching on to anger and trying to say he's different but I fail to see how he would help those most in need. I'd prefer an economist making decisions.

Some parties do this all the time or play loose with the rules and never get called out on it... a bar conversation becomes a headline and all the snowflakes present themselves... rich, really rich.

This is my major issue with what supposedly happened. Politics is becoming increasingly more polarizing, and we've seen how that's worked out south of the border.

I don't agree with any party trying to divide us based on what they say or do. But I really don't agree with a party planting stuff in attempt to cause further division, with the sole purpose of said planting party hoping to gain benefit from it.

The fact that there are partisans who are simply shrugging this off instead of being disappointed may indicate that we are already probably too far down the rabbit hole of division for us to be able to have rational, level-headed discussions about politics across party lines.

The CBC Poll tracker continues to show some slow tightening of the race too however. It ain't over yet.

Current CBC Poll Tracker:

LPC - 44.1%, 196 seats (at one point was as high as 204 seats).
CPC - 38.9%, 123 seats (was as low as 118 seats)
BLQ - 5.2%, 18 seats
NDP - 8.1%, 5 seats
GRN - 2.2%, 1 seat
PPC - 1.6%, 0 seats

338 Canada Projections:

LPC - 193 seats
CPC - 122 seats
BLQ - 18 seats
NDP - 8 seats
GRN - 2 seats
PPC - 0 seats
Right now I'm going to assume it looks like a Liberal minority government, and would be surprised if they really do take more than 172 seats. We're getting so close to finding out!

I'm surprised that wasn't mentioned in the post. Doesn't she work for the CBC? It would seem to me that a reporter hearing something with their own ears MIGHT be a good source.

For years Poilievre has been great at identifying problems and getting people worked up. His "biological clock" comment was phrased and delivered clumsily, but he again correctly identified a problem affecting younger generations and it is resonating with them. Younger voters are rallying behind him because he has a very good track record of identifying problems that disproportionately affect younger generations.

But the problem with Pierre is that while he may be very good at identifying problems, his solutions are often very weak. Cutting taxes, cutting red tape, streamlining bureaucracy, etc. I've seen the saying "if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail" applied to the Conservatives a lot lately, and it couldn't be more true. Poilievre has an incredible knack for identifying problems, but I genuinely don't believe he has the ability or the toolbox to correct or improve any of the issues plaguing Canada's younger demographics.

Anything could be true but this reeks of political fabrication by those who most need to change the topic of conversation.
It could be Russian misinformation. Who knows? The story sounds very made up.

Then again, this reminds me a lot of Trump who has simple answers to very complicated problems.

Yes, she is a Senior CBC Parliamentary reporter.

From the article:

Quote:
On Friday night, in two Ottawa bars, campaign workers shared how the party was behind this move — two Liberal Party staffers attended the conference intended for conservatives and placed these buttons in areas where attendees would find them.

At the pub D'Arcy McGee's near Parliament Hill, a number of Liberal war room staffers met for drinks on the far side of the bar. This journalist joined one of them for a quick conversation, but heard another staffer, who had previously identified himself as being involved in opposition research, describing how he and a colleague planted the buttons.

The staffer knew he was sitting next to a journalist.

When confronted, the staffer at first confirmed what he'd done. But he then denied saying anything when told that CBC News would be reporting on the operation.

A Conservative source overheard the other conversation.

I totally agree that he is good at identifying problems but fails to offer adequate or realistic solutions. I don't get why he tries to hide from the media when he hasn't even won an election and is now behind?!? Maybe he knows that this election isn't his to win if going by polls and that his party may keep him as leader if the CPC gets over 35% of the popular vote.

It looks like a prank. Unless the responsible person/people knew that reporters would be in the pub, as it's not something that would have any attention given to it otherwise.

Nobody knows this, but Musk has already secretly been to Mars. He's got a cabal of unidentifiable Martian operatives conducting false flag operations so nefarious and complex as to comprise Russian dolls of layers of suspicion, like this one.

They'll never find the supposed "human" who leaked this. I'm not authorized to divulge Martian pronouns yet, so let's just say that that Martian in the pub is already long gone from our atmosphere.

Then again, it could have been the Russians. Heh heh. As I say, I'm not authorized to divulge...

It's the Western provinces that may make the difference between majority and minority as far as I can tell. BC is the place to really watch. There are predictions that the LPC will win more than half of the seats there but I'm not so sure that will actually happen. Definitely possible.

Ontario and Quebec could end up with better Liberal results if things continue to go badly for the Conservatives so there's that to watch as well. It's looking as though a CPC majority win is out of the question now barring some kind of very major happening.

Nobody in the midst of the fractious run-up to an election would pay any attention to a prime opportunity to make hay with buttons suggesting that Pierre is "Trump lite"? Because, erm, the Liberals have standards and ethics and they wouldn't stoop so low?

Having gazed at this thread, I actually thought the pearl-clutching at the destruction of Liberal campaign signs, with the suggestion that nobody on the woke/progressive/Liberal side would ever do such a thing, was a bit of a winking self-satire of preening lefty moral posturing that invariably leads to the No True Scotsman fallacy.

For a second. But this is SSP, after all!
