I think 400k and 500k would help make the county more attractive for better development and brand names to enter the market. That is a good steady growth rate. Raleigh and Charlotte move so much faster than most cities (of all sizes) that it throws things out of proportion.

Economic development, retail, and other investment will look at MSA numbers. You'll notice other cities here are discussing MSA numbers, which are the most important. Even more important than city population. Winston-Salem is considered around the same size as Madison, WI., and Akron, OH.,. Winston-Salem is considered larger than Wichita, KS., but smaller than Des Moines, IA.,.

Bill to eliminate off-street parking minimums. I think it'd be a net positive.

We are proud to announce the upcoming construction of Gateway Apartments, a five-story, mixed-use building in the heart of Kernersville. Located just steps from our headquarters, this landmark project will be the tallest building ever built in the Town of Kernersville, standing just under 60 feet, and redefining the town’s skyline.

The first level will be designated for office and storage use, featuring structural steel and metal stud framing, while floors two through five will be constructed with wood framing and house 65 modern apartment units. Atop the building, a rooftop lounge will provide a premier space for relaxation and entertainment, complete with a natural gas fire pit and a pickleball court. 🏓

Spanning 83,955 square feet on a 1.72-acre site, this development will bring a unique blend of residential and recreational space to the community—all within walking distance of downtown Kernersville.

Good to see some height and mid-rises coming to Kernersville. Now just need more mixed uses in vertical construction projects.
That apartment building will have nice amenities.

Winston-Salem State University and N.C. A&T State University would receive hundreds of millions of dollars toward a major infrastructure project if a state Senate Bill is approved or the legislation is inserted into the 2025-26 state budget….The WSSU project would provide $112.5 million toward its Health, Physical Education and Recreation complex.

Projects & Construction:
I want to thank the photographers and local businesses, sharing updates on projects, who make this thread possible. Without you, these updates won't happen. I don't make any money from this and these updates are to share, with both locals and out-of-towners, what is happening in the city they love. Many people reading this are far-away and this allows them to see the projects. If you can, please support any local businesses or follow social pages sharing photographs and thank them.

Sorry for occasionally reposting new proposals someone else already posted. If I made an entry for it, I usually leave it. Even if I see later, it was already posted.

New Brunson Downtown Elementary School:
This is a STEM-focused school for the county's highly academically gifted program. If you're an artist and you're interested in creating a sculpture for this new building, there is a request for art proposal at this school. The budget is $75,000 and you have to submit your sculpture proposal by May 9, 2025. It will be located where the fake tree support is. The tree branches won't be constructed and are there to show what a sculpture could look like in that location. The artwork must inspire learning and bridge the past and present, as the site of the former Thomasville Furniture Factory.

AeroX Chairman says the Triad's near miss in wooing a 2,000-job manufacturing campus for Joby is a good sign for the future. "There are other people behind Joby; we'll have another bite at the apple. I'd be very surprised if PTI doesn't score a big hit in this space, and I'm hopeful that Winston will as well."

Thanks. What site is being proposed for the arena? Any new residence halls or classroom buildings planned?
