New Innovative Poll

LPC= 41
CPC= 35
NDP= 12
Bloc= 6
Green= 3

Keep in mind Innovatives poll last week showed CPC+1 , so this is a 7 point swing to the LPC.

With this, 11 out of 12 pollsters in the field show a LPC lead of between 4 and 12 points. Abacus is the only one with a tie.

Some commentators also finding it interesting that Pierre did such a rally with Harper in Edmonton - is this to shore up the support there because a # of ridings could be in play?

This image should all but shore up the undecided NDP->LPC switchers.

Harper was the absolute worst.

Seeing how it was the liberals who denied Jews refuge in Canada during the holocaust, I find this very offensive. To even compare the holocaust to what’s happening in gaza is ridiculous. The Jews weren’t repeatedly attacking the Germans for the past century and Throwing bricks at little old ladies.

The fact that you cannot denounce the antisemitism occurring in Canada or even acknowledge how the Palestinians got themselves into this mess, tells me you’d be the one denying them refuge.

I used to think that… then Justin Trudeau took over. At least Stephen Harper didn’t double the length of foodbank lines.

Was that the best pic they could get? I mean Pierre isn't THAT bad there; typical politician smiles. But Harper doesn't look like he wants to be there at all. That's one of the best examples of a "Get me outta here...." grimace I've ever seen.

As for that chart on who would make the best PM? I'm surprised Alberta is that close; Carney is 1 point behind PP. I would have expected either a bigger gap or more "Neither" picked. Saskatchewan is the real outlier there compared to the rest of Canada.

And Carney's got almost 50% or better support across the rest of Canada besides AB and SK; he's certainly got momentum on his side so far.

The debates are going to be very interesting. Especially the French one.

That could be the make or break between a Carney majority or a minority.

I can guarantee you and Lio will come reporting that Carney sucked, Quebec is heading to a Bloc landslide and the Liberals will be reduced to their 15 seat Montreal base (just like you said in 2015, 2019, 2021).

In terms of voting intentions, I doubt the Liberals can go any higher in Quebec at this point. I see them either stabilizing around their current level or going down slightly. I don't see them collapsing in a significant manner, unless Carney seriously messes up the French debate. I mean, his French is not perfect, but he'll probably stick to the lines he has rehearsed hundreds of times so it probably won't be that bad, in a worst case scenario.

No he wasn't. He was no policy genius but he was generally a capable administrator. He had a pretty strong cabinet. He only went off the rails towards the end when he had his majority.

The worst Prime Minister in living memory was unquestionably Justin Trudeau (unless you were an admirer of performative virtue signaling and enthusiastic social justice activism). JT destroyed the Canadian economy. Good riddance!!!!

Thank God the Liberals have a centrist back in control...........

While Trudeau had his faults, Mulroney had a pretty bad economic performance while almost leaving the country split. I think he takes the cake for worst prime minister in living memory.

Harper's let himself go.

I wouldn't say those polls are too, too surprising. Calgary and Edmonton are pretty massive cities compared to Regina and Saskatoon, while rural Sask makes up a much greater % of the provincial population than rural Alberta does. Plus, a lot of people have moved to Alberta from elsewhere in Canada.

If Alberta doesn't watch out, it might no longer be such a deeply conservative province as its two major cities continue to grow. There's basically 3 million people between the Edmonton and Calgary CMA's now.

It sure would have been interesting had Carney ran in Edmonton, but I still think he might help them pick up some seats there, maybe even in Calgary.

The Liberals could literally run the best leader in the world of all time and the Conservatives could run a broken toaster promising to electrocute everyone's kids as their leader and Saskatchewan would still pick the broken toaster.

I don't understand my province. At all.

Mulroney's Achilles heel was Meech Lake. His heart was in the right place on this file, but he underestimated how difficult it would be to herd all of Canada's cats in the same direction. This led to a political crisis of his own making, but, I don't generally hold him at fault. He meant well.

He negotiated free trade with the US. This seemed a good idea at the time and led to an era of prosperity. In Trumpian retrospect, free trade left Canada vulnerable. Again, I don't necessarily hold Mulroney to blame. Who could have predicted Adolf Drumpf???

Mulroney was an activist interventionist in foreign affairs and punched well above his weight here. He is well regarded in his efforts to end apartheid in South Africa.

Whether you like him or not, I don't think anyone would argue that Mulroney was not one of Canada's most consequential Prime Ministers.

I mean it's not really even free trade itself that left us vulnerable, but free trade concentrated disproportionately on one market. It's inevitable that in any timeline, Canada and the U.S. would be major mutual customers of one another, but more than three quarters of our exports go there, and people have been talking about this vulnerability for years,
