Not an encouraging sign for how much interest the city must be getting on Parcel G. This isn't surprising considering the current economic uncertainty.

Whoever ends up purchasing this parcel, I hope they'll have deep enough pockets to build something to match the scale of Parcel Y.

Did anyone else notice a building that looks like First Canadian Place in the background? I was trying to understand where exactly this building is proposed and the picture wasn't helping to situate it!

Those tall buildings in the background are to the southeast, and seem to be fictional.

Love to see another mid-rise building proposed along a main corridor. Definitely an improvement compared to the derelict houses that are currently on those lots.

Saskatchewan sees 78.7% growth in building permits

Today, Statistics Canada released data showing continued growth in the value of building permits issued in Saskatchewan, which had a 78.7 per cent increase from January 2024 compared to January 2025 (seasonally adjusted). This places Saskatchewan third among the provinces for year-over-year growth.

In January 2024, the value of building permits issued in Saskatchewan totalled $219 million (seasonally adjusted).

Over the last few months, Saskatchewan has consistently ranked among the top three provinces for growth in the value of building permits.

The Link (BRT) design and renders for College Drive got posted this morning. As an urbanist/transit nerd these are really exciting to see! I know the BRT isn't the most glamorous form of rapid transit, but it's all we've got. Having the bus-only lanes on College Drive (arguably Saskatoon's most important and notable stretch of roadway) will hopefully improve Saskatonian's attitude towards public transit in the long term.

In the city's Housing Accelerator Fund action plan, they set the goal of working with the U of S to fast-track student housing on College Quarter lands (off Cumberland between College & 14th). Their most recent goal said they hoped to for this partnership by summer 2026, so maybe we will see some action there soon? (See Initiative 13 here: https://www.saskatoon.ca/business-development/planning/programs-projects/housing-action-plan )

Also, the older student housing building off Wiggins applied to re-zone to Corridor Station Mixed Use, so maybe the owner of that building has some plans?

Either way, College should transform over the next decade. Especially with those cool-looking BRT lanes down the middle!

I was surprised to see the ped overpass at stadium road is being removed for a street level one with signals. Seems an overpass alllows for easier ped movement.

It looks like the former Manchester Pub building and it's mid oughts addition at Idylwyld and 33rd are slated for demolition.

I've since learned it is to make way for a Shopper's Drug Mart. Exciting times.

I wonder if the location on 7th and 33rd would close its doors since it's in close proximity to this new one, and Canarama. I'd hate that for that neighborhood, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did.
