The information collected varies from agency to agency, but typically the following information is always collected:
- Age
- Gender
- Province or Polling region
- Personal or Household Income
- Education
Mainstreet also asks about race.
The polls are then weighted to reflect Canada's census data on regional population, gender, and age.
Data tables with all this information should be attached somewhere to any poll release. Most people only look at the topline numbers, but you
really need to dig into those detailed tables to really get a good sense of what's going on.
