Exactly. This is an aspect of their camp that is generally overlooked by almost everyone.

Agreed. Although it may seem counterintuitive, the Greens Party is kinda a "big tent" protest party where disgruntled voters might park their votes if they are unhappy with mainstream alternatives.

I'm a natural (progressive) Conservative with an environmental conscience. I have voted Green in the past. This was before the wingnuts took over the party however. The Greens have now lost all credibility (despite Elizabeth May's best efforts). I doubt I will vote Green again (at least federally).

This time round I have more or less decided to vote Liberal in the upcoming federal election. I detested JT, but, now that he is gone, and the choice is between MC and PP, the calculus is changed. I think Carney is the better choice to deal with Trumpian chaos and threats. PP is a MAGA wannabe........

Another reason why I would have difficulty supporting PP.

He is sullen, argumentative and disrespectful. One should respect their opponents (so long as their opponents have comported themselves in a respectable manner).

JT deserves common courtesy, no matter how much you dislike him or his policies. Adolf Drumpf on the other hand is a completely contemptable personage without a redeeming ounce of flesh in his body. And who did PP choose to congratulate??? This speaks oodles about his character.

I live in Kitchener Centre which has gone Green both federal and provincially in the past few elections and am next door to Guelph which also has a strong Green presence (the provincial leader is their MPP). I would argue that all the candidates that have been elected in this area have a real conservative appeal - not in the culture war sense, but more in the traditional PC sense - and have been able to effectively bleed support from the Liberals and more progressive side of the Conservatives such that neither party is particularly effective locally.

The Greens here are definitely not the party of anti-GMO, anti-nuclear and anti-vaccine, even though nationally it does have that undercurrent and history. I personally think they would be smart to try to continue to grow the party along the lines of where they've seen success in SWO and abandon the crazy wing of the party.

I actually wonder if they were to target some parts of western Canada if they wouldn't be able to see some success (depending on how they handle the O&G industry).

Conservatives (or Poilievre) still don't get it....they have simply taken their fuck Trudeau and his carbon tax strategy and changed the name to Carney....that is not what Canadians want to hear right now...there is an existential crisis dominating our collective consciousness...prove to us that we should trust you to be the guys we give the keys to....nothing else...stop barking at the other guy and start selling yourself, because objectively the other guy is more qualified than you, so you need to spend every advertising dollar you have telling us about what you bring to the table.

In spite of what politicos seem to think, I for one firmly believe attack ads do not work in Canada. One or two alongside a positive campaign, perhaps, but not what both major parties (also in the Ont election) are doing these days.

Really ? Other than the very real 37% reduction in his Cabinet it is astounding how much ethereal support Mr Carney is receiving due to a largely Conservative government supporting CV. He is riding a wave of Trump induced anti change anxiety in Canada. Fair enough. What is HIS plan, the man has the job now.

Everyone who talks like this conveniently places the entire "burden of proof" on Pollievere and uses a form of circular reasoning for Carney.

Carney's more qualified -> point out x policy/view that would be negative for the economy -> doesn't matter he's more qualified, also I hate Pollievere, unlikeable

Ok...but not a really convincing argument beyond "I don't like Pollievere"

his plan is to present his resume....I wouldn't dismiss it as anti-change....if he was applying for this job his experience would make him the top candidate...Pierre has made the conservative party all about his own persona and has spent no time building trust with Canadians....that could be his fatal mistake in the end...he thought being angry opposition would be good enough, but suddenly it isn't....he needs to look in the mirror before its too late....dismissing what is happening as anti-change, or a Trudeau leaving bump is not understanding the moment....they are sunk if they don't realize that soon.

Liaison has the LPC as a majority with 188 seats.

Name and recognition of Mark Carney has bolstered the LIb party. No matter if he wants to give foreign real estate investors tax dollars to keep Canadian from owning homes, or his insistence of carbon taxing industries, or his blatant lies about his role with Brookfield, or his inadequate bilingualism, or his anti Canada resource development.

He’s gonna ride the GTA, as all parties need, in order to get elected.

I predict a Lib majority, no later than the seats are counted in the GTA.

Though, I can’t wait for the Mark Carney roast in each of the debates. Will be entertaining to watch!

You think they have a majority before we finish counting Ontario? I guess if the projection is 188 seats that is possible as they might end up with as few as 10 in the whole west. If they get a majority and get shut out of Winnipeg to Surrey we will be in a precarious position of national unity. I also think that is a very probably outcome.

I'd rather see the NDP go away. Environmental issues have more relevance than a party which seems to represent a handful of unionized public service workers now and nothing more. The share of blue collar unions workers who vote for "Rolex" Singh must be infinitesimal.

I think the NDP are an important staple in Canadian politics. Representing union and workers should be there main focus, unfortunately they have strayed from the path recently to fight the social war more often. They forget that most workers aren’t far left when it comes to social issues at the moment. They do need a change in leadership asap.
