I agree. It's really quite shocking how the Tories have stayed on script with a "carbon tax election" when the priorities of Canadians has changed so dramatically in the last 2 months.
That said, people who think Carney has come to rescue the Liberals from sure defeat are way ahead of themselves. Carney has greatly helped the Liberals in support but that is mostly due to all the media attention he is getting. The man has talked a lot and yet said remarkably little and talking in platitudes is easy but actually having to come up with viable policies is quite another matter. So far, the media has basically given Carney a free ride but that will change when the writ is dropped.
Remember, Carney has only had to defend any policies in a nicely controlled news conference room in front of a bunch of well trained penguins of bankers who ask no questions and clap when told to do so. Having to offer valid alternatives for all social/political/economic/financial/ and foreign policy issues is quite another matter. Having to debate in both official languages while being attacked is a whole different ballgame. Canadians don't live in the banking halls of Bay Street and he has yet to prove that he doesn't either.
