It's going to be around 0 for a couple of weeks I would expect. There is quite a bit of snow here. More than the last couple of years anyway.

I'm fairly tolerant of winter in January and February. It gets cold and I just accept this fact. But give me some warmth in March. There's going to be a short reprieve next week where temperatures will be slightly above zero, but then I see an extended period of cold, even highs of -8C the first week of March. Things usually warm up in early March, even on bad years, so it's surely going to test my patience if it happens.

In a mild year we'd have our bulbs coming up right now. I had a daffodil coming up in early January... its now under a foot of snow. As it stands now, probably looking at least a month before we anything.

My post from January 2nd. Hard to believe this was only 6 weeks ago.

Low of -18C (wind chill of -27) this morning.

The warmspot was Victoria, BC at 12.3C.

Warmest low was Sheringham Point, BC at 7.9C.

I can't recall ever seeing such a large discrepancy in guidance from model to model with tomorrows storm. We're about 24 hours away from it starting, and half the weather models have us sitting around 20-30 cm of snow, and the other half have us at 5-10cm.

Looks like after tomorrow the pattern will stay active, but looking more rainy than snowy.

Felt an earthquake here in Edmonton. Not anything damage-worthy but enough to cause some things to sway. Temperature is supposed to warm up today.

Edit: Earthquake was 5.2 some 66 km NE of Grand Cache.

24 hours ago the YYC airport was reporting temps of around -20. It's currently +7. Wasn't expecting the warm up to be this quick but won't complain.

Today is the first day in Calgary where the temp has been above 0C since Jan 31. 20 straight days where the high has been below 0C, it's been a while since I've seen a sub zero streak last that long.
Today though, sunny and 9C. Feels tropical compared to yesterday.
