WestJet to augment summer 2025 schedule with new route from Halifax

HALIFAX, NS, Feb. 17, 2025 /CNW/ - Media are invited to join WestJet and the Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) Tuesday, February 18, 2025, for an announcement regarding an addition to the airline's 2025 summer schedule. A business and community celebration will take place at Lot Six Bar and Restaurant, with remarks from key business, government and community partners including Jared Mikoch-Gerke, Director of Alliances and Airport Affairs at WestJet.

Agreed, and the dip will likely keep going. We often book a US summer trip around March, and needless to say that won’t be happening anytime in the next 4 years and probably beyond.

Also did you mean 4 X weekly for YOW to IAD?

It’s too bad all of WestJet’s transborder flights use 737s, they won’t be able to use them for many other international destinations. Though it’s good timing they got into the long haul business with the 787s. They’ve already had good load capacities, but they likely will be even be better now.

YYC-SNA is being reduced, not BNA.

Also there were reductions on YWG/YYZ-LAX as well.

Looks like a Delta CRJ-900 has crashed at Pearson, pics are just coming out. Looks like a ground stop was also issued.

Even though it flipped over and at least one of the wings sheared off, thankfully it looks like no hopefully no deaths or bad injuries and pax are walking away from the crash. No doubt the snow saved this from being much worse…but might have also been a contributing factor?

YOW-IAD 4x daily - a +1 increase from the current 3x daily on the route.

A ton of diversions to YUL, some of which, then subsequently had to divert to YOW, due to the crosswinds at YUL. AC1023 is one such example.

LH470 (B744) did a missed approach on 24R, but just landed on its second attempt.

All the passengers on the DL CRJ are out and accounted for. YYZ should reopen ASAP, or else this will turn into a shitshow.

From reddit, it sounds like it clipped a wing while landing in a crosswind and then cartwheeled, sheering off the wings and tail. Somehow, only 9 passengers are injured and there are no fatalities.

As far as I can tell, Air France and KLM diverted to Ottawa. A considerable number of flights diverted to YUL. British Airways diverted to YHM.

Pearson reopened. I see planes landing on 24R.

Incident happened on runway 23, around the intersection of 15L. So that side of the airport will be closed for a few days no doubt.

I have friends on that LH flight, they just said a few minutes ago that they were pushing back to depart Montreal and then the pilots determined the weather sucked too much to depart.

I was thinking GLA and MAN are the only unserved routes left for WS out of YHZ to the UK and Ireland, but I thought the Iberian peninsula made more sense. Guess not.
