By the way, they had -6C max in the afternoon in Yalta (Crimean Riviera) yesterday. Crazy!! -11C at night. That's the southernmost coastline of that part of the Slavic world.

True about the Québécois though I am not sure Mousquet's view is necessarily typical of all of France.

In general, I think the French are mostly indifferent to Florida due to the presence of other more accessible sun destinations for them.

If they had a place where they can drive their own car to in two days and go from -15C in the winter to +25C every day of the year, they might have a different opinion.

The French do too (see the Paris-Miami planes full every winter). But the French also like to badmouth things that are better than what they have or that they cannot have. It's a trait of the national character that I've never liked.

There was a commercial a few years ago that made fun of that trait of the national character.

I think it's this one I'm thinking of (if you can watch it in your jurisdiction). The streets are North American (typical of car commercials for Europeans), but the content is extremely French, denigrating or criticizing what you are jealous of. I hate this mentality, but it's very French.

While on the subject of the Journal de Montréal, it’s interesting to note that paper copies are available in Florida (not everywhere in the state obviously) but not in London, Ontario.

A snowbird reading the JdM daily would be less out of touch with modern Quebec than some expat who has little daily contact with what’s happening there nowadays.
