No real hope for a white Christmas for St. John's. Heavy rain tonight, Saturday, and into early Sunday. Looking pretty calm and cool after that, but no signs of snow.

It was a decent day until the late afternoon (overcast, dry and calm) and then some rain set in for a few hours.

Thursday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 11 C, the low was 8 C.

There was another appearance of the rare Asperatus clouds north of Mount Seymour today.

The blocking of the Gulf Stream would have catastrophic effects for Northern Europe, the United States and Eastern Canada. Instead, here in the Mediterranean it is not clear what would happen. But it is a topic that has been discussed for years and on which climatologists do not all agree and if it happens it will probably be a problem for future generations. Not our problem, I believe that our generation, and perhaps also the next one, will have to endure increasingly warm temperatures.

A lot nicer today than yesterday. Temps are now -13 and climbing. With the wind yesterday it felt like -26C on site. lots of fresh snow. but some freezing rain today and then a constant rise in temps right through the holidays. +4 thru Christmas.

Snow will begin here around midnight and last until early evening tomorrow.

It will be cold until Christmas. A white Christmas is now a certainty.

Yesterday morning was the first freeze in my area in Japan.

It dipped just below zero for some frost on my windshield and in the rice farms.

Up to 16.1 today on the BC coast.

For actual cities West Vancouver got up to 14.6.

Many other locations were between 11 to 13.

Overcast with scattered showers. Very mild temps today around Vancouver.
Double digit high and low for the Vancouver Harbour weather station.

Friday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 12 C, the low was 10 C.

Halifax got 25-30cm of snow last night. It's still flurrying but the roads are plowed. We're supposed to get a solid freeze on Sun/Mon/Tue (no temps above -5). Another 15-20cm is forecasted for Christmas night.

I guess it's safe to say we're having our first White Christmas in over a decade.

-3C with snow and blowing snow in Moncton at noontime. It should taper off around 7 PM.

I'm not sure how much snow we received, but, it is certainly less than Halifax (although more is yet to come).

My son had to go to work for 8 AM, so I was quite pleased to see that our cul-de-sac was already plowed, and that my contracted snow clearing service had cleared the driveway. Very efficient service indeed. Their tractors follow the city plows around the residential streets, and usually have the driveways cleaned up within five minutes.

We peaked at .03 yesterday at 9 pm. Overnight low was -1.9 and currently it's 0.5 and still snowing. Meanwhile, out on Sable Island the temp is 9.1 which is lower than the high for today which was 10.6 at 4 am.

At 3 pm skies are clearing. The flurries today didn't amount to much.

I think the low last night was supposed to be 9 here. I’ve got bulbs coming up with 2” of growth showing. I hope there’s not a real cold snap in January.
