YES there are many facts to back that statement up.

I don't think what you said is accurate, I think the overwhelming majority of supporters of those causes are peaceful, yes there are the fringe violent ones but they don't in any way represent most of those supporters although you're right that us righties are definitely more peaceful overall

I just don't understand how fellow BCer's think (assuming they think at all) because not long before the provincial election it was announced Eby had racked up a 9 billion dollar provincial deficit before he was even elected and yet somehow still won the election (albeit with a razor thin majority). I thought that announcement alone would ensure a Conservative victory but it didn't happen and I just shook my head so it was like BCer's didn't notice or care. Now that he has a mandate from the electorate I can hardly imagine the spending spree Eby's going to go on now with our money

Yup, first thing Eby did on day 1 was give his mla's a 50% pay raise, cause you know priorities. These politicians are so slimy and economically illiterate. That 9 billion dollar deficit is going up drastically over the next 4 years. BC is so fucked.

This infill in Valleyview is going to get a lot of pushback by neighbors, and I bet it gets approved. 3 single family homes removed for a 6 storey apartment. I know I'd be pissed if this was beside me. Thought it was weird that they positioned it along Glenwood, instead of Oriole.

So much land dedicated surface parking lot. Why don't they put it underground and fully utilize the land for more than just pavement. Add another building or create green space.

I'd be pretty happy if that was going up near my property if I was looking to cash out at a premium for future land assembly developments. It's only going to keep going that route throughout valleyview.

The parking is really poorly thought out. I don't mind the building height but the parking lot could be far better optimized.

They don't put in underground parking because it adds nearly 25% to the cost of the project and some times more. If its 30 million then it would pop out at 38 million.

The surface parking makes sense from a purely cost POV. I feel like a townhome development would be better suited here though. 2 rows of skinny townhomes would be way better suited IMO. I also don't think 6 stories would be that out of place in that location either. Considering once the new transit exchange goes in on Falcon Rd in 2026, and this property could build to 10 stories - the neighbours might be happy with just 6 floors. Also, doesn't look like the building is designed by blue green, so they dodged a bullet that an eyesore will be going up beside them, haha.

The same one I posted, as in the nice multi story project? I would be surprised based on the government being involved, I figured they would be going the dirt cheap option with portables like they did in Valley view and on Sunny Vale

Can we protest that and hold it up in bureaucracy for years? Or does that ship only sail in 1 direction? I'm being facetious, but seriously, does a plant that heats up hydrogen have to be put right beside residential neighborhoods? This looks like the city is getting screwed of tax revenue, so I company can capitalize on rail, highways and workforce. It always blows my mind that in a country as large as Canada, we have to cram facilities like this in populated areas.

Oh for sure. The pulp mill is gross. Can't wait for that thing to shut down. It should have never been built there in the first place. And that's my point. Why cram heavy industry into population centres?

It's sad that the best land in the city (KIB) is such a wasteland. Kamloops would be so much nicer if both sides of the river were lined with trails/parks and nice waterfront development. Has always been such a squandered opportunity IMHO.

It will always reman that way. The people who live there don't care. I've always wondered why 1st nations people are put so high in the hierarchy of the environment. Can you imagine if EVERYONE looked after their homes and business the way they did? Take a drive through East Shuswap road and tell me these are the people to be telling anyone how to be stewards of the land.
