Cornwall is propped up by the Crowns. As long as we keep those, Cornwall will stick around.

except...E-Health is going to be moving...the SGI Building has nothing to do with the actual mall other than its connected...so what Crowns are propping up Cornwall?

The Bay is 185,000 sf approx and E Health is 100,000...the Mall will have a 40+% Vacancy Rate next year...No Mall can survive that...

When the Cornwall was built, SaskTel expropriated the land and facilitated the development. At one time they may have owned part of it but that is ancient history.

If someone told me 20 years ago that both anchors in the Cornwall (Sears and Eaton's/HBC) would be gone, I would tell you that the place is done. Things have changed, however, and although the mall will be greatly diminished for some time, department stores are not what they used to be. Also, you need to remember that anchors pay extremely low rents, so from that perspective it is not a total disaster.

Comark Holdings has filed for creditor protection and will be closing all women's clothing stores under both the Ricki's and Cleo brands, plus downsize the number of Bootlegger stores.

That will be a hit locally. There are 4 Ricki's plus a combined Ricki's/Bootlegger store. Cleo has three locations. Bootlegger has two locations plus the shared one with Ricki's.

Wine and Beyond are building a 16,000 sq ft store next to Winners Homsense in Aurora. Half the liquor stores in the City are in the E/SE.

Speaking of Wine Stores - I've noticed that the Urban Cellars in Golden Mile has had several very empty looking shelves recently. Anyone know what's up with that as I thought maybe they were closing or moving when I first saw it but then it was the same 1-2 months later.

They were testing the waters. If sales were strong they would keep the store open, but according to the store manager, they are closing after Easter. I am a customer, and I can say that their chocolates are excellent, but they are pricey. I have seen people come in, see the prices and then quickly leave.
