You're proving my point. Aside from South False Creek there isn't anywhere for dedicated lanes. Even if there were, the tram would still have to contend with waiting at intersections and other interruptions. And even in other cities like in Paris, their trams have average speeds around 20 kmh, no better than a bus. A subway makes way more sense, because there would be one less transfer, no traffic, no nonsense, twice the speed, all resulting in strong ridership and happier transit users. Streetcar plans are made by people who don't actually use transit and have no idea what they're talking about.
