Pretty sure you're wrong about that, but anyway.

I dont really see a problem with this one either. Its not ground breaking in any way, would the location have been a nice spot for a landmark yes, but this project is 100x better than what was there before and will bring decent density to the area + a better at ground experience. I see this has a win.

This project is absolutely one on the worst designs we have seen in recent developments here. The Charc-Whites are a blessing compared to this commie era looking building(s). This is the issue with this City, people accept this type of bland design.

The renders were okay, but the end product is simply crap.

Wait, what!?! How did this one turn out so bad? Main + Main is usually so much better than this, and the renders looked pretty decent. What a massive -- no, gargantuan -- disappointment! This could very well end up being the worst development in Ottawa since Andaz.

Harley figured out that 75% of the project was sold to Equiton. Seems likely they dumbed it down to this extreme level.

Toronto firm hopes to break ground on multi-tower Kanata North project in 2025

David Sali, OBJ
April 24, 2024 3:56 PM ET

<snip>

Main and Main is also building three highrises ranging from 22 to 32 storeys on Montreal Road in Vanier that will contain about 1,100 residential suites and more than 25,000 square feet of retail space.

Byrne said the company expects the 22-storey tower, which includes 300 units, to be completed in 2025. Work on the second building, a 28-storey highrise, is due to begin later this year.

I was sitting in Strathcona yesterday evening. It's exactly what it looks like. Hopefully the balcony glass is half decent.

Having 3 of these towers will definitely bulk up the skyline here and that's all there is to say about that.

Let's get those towers down the road at VP going and take our eyes off this.

It's the modern iteration of all those 60/70s rental tower builds that are all over the city but without the dark red brick.

its not too bad looking during sunset I guess.

Overall, it adds density in the right place and improves the public realm in that area, so its not all that bad

Yeah, I'm not feeling the hate for this one, but I don't have siding allergies.

Seeing it now with the balcony glass it looks quite a bit better. Glass to panel ratio etc. The second pic is quite nice. The first pic has that vertical slab of panel that would probably look better glassed out.

Also... what the heck is going on with the roof of the podium? is it soil for greenscaping of some sort?

This is also only the 22fl build so I'm feeling a little better about this project on these photos.

It's not great.. but I think I like it better than the comparable tower across from Westgate.

Damn that vertical slab on the inside front corner though!

What's with the random curved sidewalk on Montgomery St? Was it really necessary narrow the road to make that bump out?

Space for the planters and the parking bay beyond.
