So you're saying Rustad's a liar? Or stupid? (To be fair, it's not either/or in his case). The massive Conservative deficit didn't include a bunch of big ticket items they threw in at the last minute without any costing, and included a future economic growth rate that is much higher than any credible analysis suggests should be relied upon.
It'll be interesting to see if the party can hold together and form a credible opposition, spanning a range from ex BC United centrists to fall-off-the-edge-of-the-flat-earth conspiracists.
A quick scan of the results seems to support the idea that the Conservatives might have picked up two more seats, without the independent candidates taking some votes, but equally, there appear to be four or five where the NDP might have won if there hadn't been a Green candidate in the riding.
The collapse of many of the resource industries in BC - especially forestry - has almost nothing to do with provincial government, and is the result of a falling lumber market, US tariffs and the devastating impacts of climate change and forest fires.
