Mr Bodaggin - we will do this in point form.
1.There is a difference in our highway system between RTAC / A1 / B1.
4 out of the 6 Highways / ROADS you listed are B1 and are called Provincial Roads.
You cannot haul full weight in a regular tridem set up on these roads.
Most bridges on these Roads are also restricted. This is not good for the business end of trucking and therefore are used only when necessary and with the proper permits.
Hwy 5 ( and 34 ) is a A1 Highway. Bigger weights, but there are some restrictions with these Highways.
RTAC Highways are simple to guess -Number 1 / 16 / 75 / 10. No restriction...let'er Fly!
2. The Point of my post was we need 34 and 5 to be RTAC highways, and the value of the products that would use those highways is worth the investment to upgrade the Bridges and Road surface to accommodate this. I know nothing of the value of Potatoes, but those are 2 big industries for Carberry and Portage...not sure why you went off on that tangent....
3. In my post I should have said that the bridge 1ajs was talking about should also get the fix it needs as well, my post was not a us or them thing.!
4. Finally if we used your logic, about how close 32 KILOMETERS is to go around,
then we should tell the good folks in Winnipeg that we'll close down a few bridges like
Osborne St bridge and Donald ( Midtown?) St Bridge. make everyone going south go over to Norwood Bridge. There soo close together. LOL -
Now- OF COURSE this is a ridiculous idea!
5. Now if your original post was just venting at MTI , I get that. I just take umbrage with the notion that what you think is a "nowhere" bridge is still a very important part of MY BACKYARD. Which is all of Southern Manitoba.
6. Don't know where you got the 600 million per year for this goldmine, But that is great news for Lynn Lake area...
If you have any question please ask, just don't ask about potatoes...
