What Is The Weather Today II (No Mercury Jockeying)

Toronto at a very mild risk of a freeze - forecast of 3 for the next 3 nights.

KW looks like it will join the freeze list. I am still petitioning it to be added, despite it's close proximity to Toronto, they get colder nights earlier. Also, flurries in the forecast for them Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. EDIT: It looks like they actually joined the freeze list on October 10th, with a 24hr low of -0.5.

Back to Toronto - cool today and the next few days. 10 and partly cloudy today. Warmer starting Thursday with highs in the upper teens and all sunshine.

I feel like today exceeded expectations. There was a definite chill in the air this morning but the afternoon was pleasant and mostly sunny. Loved the cloud formations over Lake Ontario.

More south than QC yes but Montreal is about the same latitude.

Sherbrooke: Coordinates: 45°24′N
Montreal: Coordinates: 45°30′N

Both MTL and QC are along the St Lawrence river which moderates the temperatures a bit. Montreal has the extra moderation from being an island.

Urban heat island also matters but the rural station of Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue coldest so far is 2.6C while the off island but much more urban station of St-Hubert coldest is 3.0C. So the island itself has the same impact as UHI.

Low of 6C this morning. Pretty much no variation all day.

The warmspot was Bow Island, AB at 27.9C.

Warmest low was Lytton, BC at 14.4C

Weird weather.

It rained all day, and it was a cold 8C this afternoon as I walked from my car to the Avenir Centre for the Moncton Wildcats hockey game. This evening, we had a strong series of heavy thunderstorms passing through (the worst thunder since July), presumably as a result of a warm front. It is now 16C in the city at midnight.

We got a good soaking in the first half of the day and then the rain tapered off later in the afternoon.

Monday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 15 C, the low was 13 C.

I don't believe the YEG one. Sunday was a beautiful morning. My Begonias are still blooming. and they are the firs to go. In Fact my whole garden is still going strong.

But I 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵. Did get out last nich for a couple of quick shot. If the rain doesn't hit early I may be able to get out with my better tripod and Lens that's not dirty.

Yeah, we hit about 11C in Mississauga today (spending a few days out since I have a break from studies)
I went wading in the Credit River, knowing it was only about 4C this morning. I took my time and was careful, but didn't do it for long, partly because fo the cold water, partly because I chose a poor place to wade (deep, fast water in sections)
I took these before going wading, and enjoyed the view of many birds and the old mill by Streetsville, in Mississauga:

Just before I got into the water, I spotted this river otter (I think thats what it is)

This was taken while wading, shortly before I turned back due to a massive boulder just under the water that I couldnt get around, unless I wanted to wrestle with fast current

I saw two of the salmon still had full bellies and were dead. I squeezed out the eggs wondering if they could be saved, but they were yellow and no good. Should be orange.

Saw a small catfish upside down but moving. I righted him but it wasn't doing well.

I always appreciate the creek photos and your adventures. I'm going to make another visit to the Credit this week and next week before fall really comes into play.

I saw a mink on my last walk. What you saw does look bigger than a mink in that shot so who knows, could be an otter.

Been at least 8 years since I waded the Credit. But that's where I learned the trade. The Credit and its tribs in Caledon, Brampton and Mississauga. Well, there and the Etobicoke Creek. Now you got me wondering if I should make another run up the river. Maybe Bronte instead of Sixteen Mile. Man, if I had time I'd venture farther out but time is at a premium.
