A new apartment is being planned for Downtown Bathurst. This one will be on the corner of Main and King. Replacing a hole left by fire years ago.

Yes, 200 Main, there was an agreement to sell it to a group of local business owners who have the capacity to make something great at this location. Hopefully it will have a nice street presence.

Bathurst: updates......

Place Bathurst Mall is seeing a new influx of retailers again. So far...
*Hart is setting up a furniture store in the old Pet store above their fashion store recently opened.
*Bentley is reopening soon in its old unit.
*Pizza Hut is apparently coming next to Staples
*Digi Labs is opening next to Dollarama
*Something is afoot next to Yellow shoes the mall appears to be clearing out the space now.

Above that retail wise in the city:
* Petro Canada is going to welcome new Costco products. Renovations are happening.
*A new plaza next to the Brick is underway for a presumed new fashion and sportware store.
*Work to renovate the former Tim Hortons on Main is happening now. ( unknown use)
*Liz restaurant is expanding
*A new Bakery arrived on McDonald street.

Outside of Retail:
* The former Mill site is now seeking tender for clean up
*A new large apartment structure is proposed for the old Natural resources building
*The corner of King and Main where Greco once stood appears to have a purchaser and ready for development. ( my guess a mixed use building)
*The old Post office is becoming a Art and cultural center. Renovations are happening.

Lots happening in the City.

A new Bakery is opening on McDonald Street in Bathurst. The owner has been a staple at the local market for some time now.

Nice to see a business like that grow. If they thrived at the market they are probably pretty good.

According to sources at the Mall Bathurst, pizza Hut will indeed see the return to the city, next to Staples.

They started erecting structural steel for the new K-8 school in Campbellton.
It looks like it will be 3 stories high, although I haven't seen any official renderings.

After years of discussion and election promises, the former mill site in Bathurst has finally begun clean up procedures. Equipment is on site and a fairly large crew is working leveling land, adding fencing and preparing to remove structures. Folks are happy to see this action.

Work has started on Harvey's Restaurant at the Vanier plaza in Bathurst. They appear to be using half of the unit. Hiring has begun and apparently they are shooting for a December opening.

I was over at Sugarloaf Mall in Atholville. Work to relocate Ardene into the former Dollarama location has begun, and work on the apparent Running Man Grocery Mart in the mall is in full gear. This will be a fairly large store. It's taken the entire wing of the mall including the common areas, essentially closing that mall entrance for a exterior store entrance. They appear to have installed a mall access to the store which will drive a lot of foot traffic to Sugarloaf Mall. The micro costco retailer in Bathurst has been very busy, they are struggling to keep the shelves full. Good problem to have!!

MamaBaba's is officially Confirmed as the costco reseller coming to Sugarloaf Mall in Atholville. A location recently opening in Bathurst with a lot of support so far. The Atholville location is certainly the largest of such retailers I've seen so far.

The new 8 storey building proposed for Riverside Drive in Bathurst has Passed its 2nd reading. The final approval is for November. Apparently it's almost fully leased pre construction. The developer is already planning another. Bathurst was slow to start on housing, but for a small city this will be refreshing.

No Frills is Opening in Caraquet NB according to the local news. Also it's now rumored that they will also open a location at Bathurst Mall as well. Ardene may relocate into the mall to make it happen.

It would appear the foundation work has begun for A&W on St Peter Avenue in Bathurst next to Home Hardware.

I'm told that current construction is just land prep. The building will go up in the Spring.
